FAME AND FORTUNE

It was a funeral that brought tears to many eyes. The death had come too soon too unnecessary. Some did seem like they could ever summon the strength to get over the sorrow of the death. The mother of the deceased was not present at the funeral. She still insisted that someone had to be responsible for the death, and this person was still running free and allowed to bury her victim. The Kenyan marathoner was not yet twenty four when he died, from a fall from his first floor bedroom after a domestic dispute. The twenty three year old marathoner was a run away success by any standard. He had set a world record when aged only eighteen, and at twenty one was a gold medalist. Fame and fortune was his lot and at such a young age. He had learnt what it took to succeed, but had failed to learn how to manage his success.
The world let on us that torments and misery are nothing if one has the admiration and adoration of others. Top achievers who do all they can to escape their realities are idolized and exalted. Many uncanny observers prefer to have the misery that accompanies much worldly success than lack both. They chase after success and money and give their all, only to find themselves in sorrow unimaginable.
God never created us to find our joy in things of the world. He created us for himself. In Him there is a fulfillment that never wants. All things flow from Him. He asks for all of His creatures and takes away nothing. He adds life exponentially to those who accept Him, with the touch of one whose love is beyond understanding. When He comes into a life, the child of God glows in their environment like a giant star on a pitch dark night. All the soul was made for flows from the source, the one who knows the purpose of His creation
The allure and appeal of fleeting worldly rewards fade when the Lord of all is present. Success and fortune cease to be unforgiving slave drivers upon the soul and become manageable servants. It is only in Christ that everything has meaning and purpose, and the soul finds fulfillment. To meet the all sufficient one is to meet with ones life purpose, the reason for our being. One needs to know the all sufficient one to know what it really means to be alive.
