PRAISE GOD FOR CHARLES SPURGEON

Praise God for Charles Spurgeon
Who blesses us still today
Whose heart was overflowing with
The love of Salvation's Day
A tender hearted youngster
That the Spirit led to hear
Simple preaching from God's Word
To the which he did adhere

And where that Spirit led him
To the heart of London town
To shepherd thousands of people
His name became renowned
He put the blood of Jesus
At the forefront of his text
Then went on to preach Him
Christ crucified no less

The people thronged about Him
A hunger for God's Word
Was instilled in hearts of people
Which before they never heard
He lifted up Lord Jesus
Caused human eyes to see
Jesus Christ was sufficient
For the ails of humanity

His heart was heavy laden
For the souls of kindred men
He poured out his life in service
To show them born again
That being born again
Was of such necessity
Except a man be born again
He lives a Christless eternity

That message never changes
It still remains the same
Except a man repents of sin
He has eternal shame
But praise God, the Master
Offers full pardon to all
Come to Christ, by way of the cross
Heed ye the Saviour's call
