Precious growing pearls that need our love,
Small blessings that come down from above,
How do we keep them pure?
In a world so big and unsure,
How do we as Christ-like parents give them discipline?
Do we leave it to others or tend our own garden?
Lord help us to give our little ones to You,
Teaching them faithfully from Your word so true,
Though they may not know why?
Help us to direct them and hold them when they cry,
Not just meeting their many daily needs,
We should also teach them to give and not hold to greed,
Not just with words that sound hollow,
Help us to live Your word and in the world not wallow,
Bright little eyes watch everything we do,
Innocent ears listen close to our words,
So help us dear Lord to care for them as You do the birds,
Showing them faithfully the kind of parent You are,
That no matter what they go thru You are never far.
Though we are not perfect we look to You Lord,
Asking for Your wisdom and strength to afford,
To care for such precious pearls on earth,
Remembering the purposes You gave them from birth,
Help us to nurture their dreams as a oyster shelters the grain of sand,
Help us to teach them faithfully to follow Your command.
