Through Dying We Live

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth much fruit.
John 12: 24

The process that a seed takes to become a bountiful harvest is truly amazing. Unless the seed is willing to die no change occurs, no increase is received.

Note that as the seed begins to soak water, it softens and swells and the process of decay starts. But as the seed begins to die, there's a new life in it waiting to spring forth. The same factors that allow the grain to die are a necessary requirement for the new life to sprout out of the ground. The same may be true of you. The same environment that seeks to snuff the life out of someone may be the very environment you need to thrive. The same work environment that is suffocating you may actually be designed by God for your breakthrough. The same Sea of Galilee that Peter toiled all night but in vain was the same water he enclosed a great multitude of fish. Job thought he was dying. But he wouldn't let go of the Source of life. Job had to let go. His body was literally dying. But in the end he had his family, health, wealth. So the next time you see others running away from something, it shouldn't warrant you also to start running away. It should rather inspire you to see if the condition is not exactly what you need to thrive.

Understand that there was life in the grain but for it to manifest the old has to go.
We were created in the likeness and image of God. We were lifeless. Then God breathed into the nostrils of man and he became a living soul. The life of God flowing through man. That happened before what we know as The Fall. Sin corrupted that life. But thanks be to God in Christ Jesus we were redeemed and qualified to have the life of God back. It was in us back then in Eden. And unless the old gives way, the new will not spring forth to life.

Only a new life in Christ will result in our lives producing bountiful harvest. We must die to this world so we can live the life we were originally designed to live.

PRAYER: Lord, let me not be a hindrance to that new man in me struggling on the inside to spring forth into the light to make a difference. Rather may I purposefully strive to die to this world so the invigorating, revitalizing, and reviving life would make a difference first in me and then in the world. Amen
