A COLT TIED THERE [Mark11]

Why was it tied? Why should it be untied? Was the colt needed? Why were they bothered when it was been untied…?

With total agreement, you know the story, but it is worth reading on because you may as well discover something new [what Jesus want to use you for] in “this same old story”
Just as Jesus needed a colt while entering Jerusalem triumphantly, He is even in greater needs of colts, but this time in thousands. In like manner that He entered Jerusalem, so does he wants to do elsewhere but this time with millions coming to Him.

But He needs colts!
However, “Where are these colts?” Are they busy, tired or…?
They are been prepared and you are one of them!

This is not implying that you are an animal but rather it is an analogy to the purpose of which you are needed.

The colt carried Jesus in to Jerusalem and as a Christian, you are meant to be spreading the gospel. But won’t you ask, “Does Jesus needs me?” Just as Jesus didn’t need that particular colt (because he could have used a different one) so does he not need you but amazingly out of millions, he wants you for a purpose; mainly to spread the gospel.

There are certain important descriptions evident of the colt that Jesus chose.

The colt was tied: From one viewpoint, this signifies restriction but from a different perspective, the colt was been prepared for the task ahead. Its restriction was its preservation for the use of Jesus. Though the colt thought it was been treated unfairly, it was also been protected from been hurt.

No one has ever ridden it: The colt has never been ridden not because it was too young but its first assignment was to be used by Jesus.

The colt was there: Though the colt has been prepared, it remained tied at the door way in the village and not where it was meant to be i.e. in the presence of Jesus.
By Jesus’ demand, the colt got to where it was destined to be and began its assignment. But prior to this;

The disciples were sent: While the colt was on the same spot and was seeing other freed colt, it could have been feeling lonely and depressed but those who are to untie it were already sent.

The colt was untied: During this process, the disciples were questioned, “What are you doing, untying the colt”. The villagers were not aware of its assignment but they find it strange what the disciples were doing. They would prefer it to be on the same spot.

The people put their cloak over the colt: once the cloak was on it, then Jesus can make use of it.

Points to consider
Do you notice that the colt was from a village? So geographical location is not the determinant of the colts that are now been prepared! So it is not about your originality but rather it is about where you are wanted. But your local area is that place, so it is now up to you to come out of some things just as the colt was taken from the doorway to the presence of Jesus. Those things that can be tying you down are such as groups of those causing chaos, distracters, backbiters etc.

However when you are doing this, certain things are inevitable and it is certain that questions would be asked. Just say that the Lord wants you. Do not be disturbed by these questions because that has always been the case, pharaoh raised similar question, “How can I let the Israelites go out of bondage to serve their God?” so there would always be questions. Once you started the mission, they would be quiet. But don’t let your past mistakes and your weaknesses discourage you because people wouldn’t see the mistakes. As soon as the colt started the assignment, the glory of God appeared, as soon as Jesus stepped on the colt, people no longer see an animal, they began to see Jesus and that was why they didn’t care if the animal stepped on their cloth or not. People would forget about your mistakes and inability as soon as you start the assignment. People started to get leaves for the colt to step on; they began to look after the comfort of the colt not because it was special but because the king of kings who was on it made it such. So as long as you get the task started, you are guaranteed this, “Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "My servants will eat, but you will go hungry; my servants will drink, but you will go thirsty; my servants will rejoice, but you will be put to shame.” Isaiah 65:13

Remember this,

Though you thought you are been ignored and unfairly treated by God, you are only been prepared. The fact that you have not had the opportunity to go… is just a preparation for the task you need to do and may be a protection as well.

Though you have been prepared for Jesus, still you might not be where you have to be. You might not be at the place where you are to fulfil the assignment. So you just need to be at the presence of Jesus [you may see your pastor about this]

Like the villagers, those that surround you might not know the task you are to do so it is important to pray that those who are to bring you to the place Jesus wants you are to come your way.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, I have been on the same spot for so long, please send the people that will help me and untie me to carry out the purpose for which you have brought me to this country
Father, let me know the particular assignment that you have given to me and do not let helpers be scarce in fulfilling the tasks
