Sunday 5/29/11 Pastor Ed sermon: Finances Part 1
Luke 16:1-12, Tim 6:7, Deut 8:18, Isaiah 1:19, Gal 5:6, Psalm 50:7-23

Luke 16:1-12 Everything belongs to God
Tim 6:7 We brought nothing into this world and can’t take it with us.

We are just stewards of God’s money and God’s things. We are just managers. Vs. 10. We need to be faithful in the little things so we can be
trusted to be faithful in big things. Money is the “least” of the things we are stewards of. We need to give to God the tithe/offering so He can move us into sowing and reaping. God will have us reap big blessing from Him in the future. There is a purpose for prosperity and if you don’t understand this then you will abuse it.

Prosperity is not given FOR us but it is given to go THRU us.
Our motive for prosperity has to be right for it to work.

Deut 8:18 Don’t forget that its God who gives us power to get wealth that He may establish His covenant. We are here because God put us here and gives us power. God doesn’t FEDEX money to us but He will put us in a place/position that finances/money will come into our hands!
God will bless us/give us the power to get wealth. He gives us the ability and the ideas that get us wealth.

God’s purpose to do this it to establish His covenant in the earth. We are to be a blessing to others because the money is not ALL for us. God wants us to be comfortable, have some money but He doesn’t want our fingers to get “sticky” and hold on to it! The money and every other blessing that we have is not all just for us. If a man lives in a million dollar house then he should be giving away millions in blessings to others. When we bless people with the money that God gives us, we can see ourselves out of debt, our needs met and us blessing more people.

Isaiah 1:19 If we be willing and obedient then we will eat the good of he land. God wants us to eat, drink, wear and drive the good of the land.
After we are willing and obedient to God, He will make sure we consume the good of the land. TRUST GOD NOT MONEY!!!!

Gal 5:6 Bible Faith has to have the right attitude of the heart. The heart condition must be trusting in Jesus. Prayer won’t produce results if the attitude of the heart is not right. Confessions have to have the right attitude and the right condition of the heart. Giving to God should be motivated by Love, not to get a tax break or to just give to receive. Giving won’t produce results if the heart’s motivation is wrong!
Love is to be the motivator. God looks at why we do it more than the actions that we do. We have to have the right motive to prosper in God. Jesus said to TRUST GOD and not to trust money. Rich men who trust money will enter into Heaven like a camel enters into the eye of a needle.

Psalm 50:7-23 God is chastening the people to correct them so they can get the blessings from Him. When God talks to us to correct us, we should be thanking Him because He loves us. It all belongs to God and we should offer God thanksgivings and pay our vows. God is looking at our heart condition fist then our actions second.
Luke 6:38 Give and it will be given to us. God wants to bless us!!
