Expectations
When we are expecting good or bad news we check the mail frequently or stand by the phone. When we know we are about to run out of gas we prepare to find the nearest gas station. When we expect out of town guests or company for dinner we prepare our homes for their arrival.
How many of us are preparing to die?
Over 80,000 people lost their lives recently in Japan. Hundreds of thousands of people have been ushered suddenly into eternity through tsunamis, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, and flooding in recent months and years. Most of them woke up that morning not expecting it to be the last day of their lives. But the LORD God knows the day He has appointed for the death of every man, woman, boy and girl. None will be too early and none will be late for their appointment with death, and their judgment. None of us know what tomorrow will bring, but we should be expectant.
Jesus has told us He is going to return. He told us the signs of His coming, but are we checking our bibles frequently in anticipation? Are we listening to pastors and preachers for messages from God? Are we preparing for this world to one day run out of grace?
We should be telling others of the grace of God as evident in Christ Jesus for their salvation from the wrath of God to come.
Beloved, as sad and horrific are the sights of destruction in Haiti, Japan, Australia, Chile and here in the states, it is not worthy to be compared to the day of the LORD. The years of tribulation when millions of people will die in a day and people will beg for death, is as real as the pictures we are seeing on our TV today.
The time is coming where the water will be turned to blood, and the stars will fall from the sky.
Fear, despair, anger, pain, and uncertainty will be the part of the daily diet of life for those without Christ when the Son of Man returns. If we really are anticipating this event, how are trying to prepare ourselves and those in our circle of life?
As sudden as an earthquake, the return will catch many by surprise, but there is no need for a true believer in Christ to fear the birth pangs of the coming of the LORD. Others may panic in times like these, but we should have a sense of peace and calmness that perplexes the world around us. We should even be excited that we will soon see Him face to face.
Our Lord has said to lay up for ourselves treasures in heaven, and that He is preparing a place for us. He has told us of the marriage supper of the Lamb. We are expected guests in heaven where Christ Himself will serve us. Are you ready to go?
*Jesus and all the angels are getting ready for your expected arrival, but what are you doing in preparation for the most important meeting of your life?
It is be the first time that you see HIM. . .face to face.
Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Are your robes white, and have you accepted your invitation to attend?
Your name must be written on the guest list as NO ONE will be allowed into heaven without prior reservation. Walk worthy of the LORD now, so that you will be ashamed to wear your robe of righteousness. Be prepared to enter the kingdom of heaven as a servant, a bride adorned for her husband, a forgiven saint, a friend of God, a joint heir of Jesus, and a Child of the living God!
Be prepared. Get ready. Don't be caught off guard. Seek to save others before it is too late.
Don't guess about being on the guest list. Make sure of your salvation today.
Ethelyn
For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. Romans 8:22-23
1 Thessalonians 5:2-6 (King James Version)
For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
