Proverbs 27:23 "Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds."

When I read this scripture I automatically related it being a mom. Webster's Dictionary defines flocks as: "A group under the guidance of a leader." As parents our group is our children and we're their leader being led by Christ. A good leader is able to identify the condition of their group. As moms we need to be aware of our children's condition. We need to determine when they're healthy, sick, sad, happy, angry, afraid whatever their condition is we must pay careful attention to the signs our children give us. If we neglect to notice the state they're in their can be damaging consequences.

Being aware of their condition is a blessing. We can better protect them and address issues or concerns when we're paying attention to how they're behaving. Children may be hesitant to confess when they're hurting, angry or sad but it's important that we know our children well enough to be able to pick on the subtleties. When you're a single mom you have double the responsibilities, but raising your children comes before those duties. We can be at a deficit in a one parent household, so we have to be extra diligent in observing our children, talking with them, and constantly praying for them.

Our flocks can easily go astray if they aren't being watched. We live in a world that entices our children to go in a direction completely opposite of the what God teaches us. As the leader we have to round up our flock and keep them away from the wolves in sheep's clothing. wander. At first in the distance, but if they keep wandering aimlessly soon they'll be lost and in the midst of all sorts of danger. Being a leader requires us to give our flock guidance through love and kindness. Pay careful attention to your herd. If you notice something is amiss don't hesitate to address it and keep your flock safe.
