In the last week of March, 2011, I sent a brother to invite a young man to our Annual Celebration of God’s Goodness and Faithfulness. The man to invite, as at the time of writing this article, was a co-worker with the brother who was sent to him. His reply, to say the least, was embarrassing to me. He said, “I may not need to tell him because he is a Muslim.”
This is not the first time I will be faced with such unwelcome statement. So many ministers of God have said the same thing. Why do we defeat ourselves when the Lord had given us the victory? Why do Christians give reasons why they should not obey the Master who said all disciples must
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature”?
Mark 16: 15
One thing many children of God, who refuse to do the master work, fail to realize is that, some of them expect us to speak to them because the Lord had already prepared their hearts for His words in their mouths.
The Muslim brother in question later heard about the event in the church and confronted the same brother, who failed to tell him, with the question, “Why did you not invited me when daddy organized such a programme in your church?” He rebuked the brother sharply! Then who knows whether the March 27, 2011 programme would have been the place for his salvation? But a Christian failed.
Let me state here that every case may not be exactly like this Muslim young man’s. Many may be violent and unco-operating. This is not a reason at all for any believer to be silent.
A Christian is like Prophet Ezekiel, who had this instruction to obey:
“And you, son of Man, do not be afraid of them nor be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you and you dwell among scorpions, do not be afraid of their words or dismayed by their looks, though they are a rebellious house.
You shall speak My words to them, whether they hear or whether they refuse, for they are rebellious. But you, son of Man, hear what I say to you. Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house, open your mouth and eat what I give you”.
Ezekiel 2: 6-8.
My beloved reader, what is your excuse now for not preaching the Gospel to unbelievers? Please, read again and again the three verses of the book of Ezekiel quoted above. The Lord knows everything about you and those creatures you meet daily. You do not need to give room for fear. Replace it with faith.
Failure to preach the Gospel, as commanded by our master, amounts to rebellion. Do you want to rebel against your God? God forbid.
Whether they will hear or refuse, share the words of God anywhere and anytime. Say like Apostle Paul,
“For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for necessity is laid upon me, yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!”
I Corinthians 9:16.
Fellow Christian, wake up today from your slumber. Begin to preach the gospel to every creature. You have the Holy Spirit to help you. Note: Every Scripture quotation is taken from New King James Version of the Bible.
