Knocking the things that have got you pinned down,
Demons struck out. Spread it all over town.
Threw them a curve ball that went in the gutter,
Everyone's hearts were just all in a flutter.
"You've lost," sneered the devils upon the
sideline.
You've got no points, 'cause your life's out of line."
But suddenly as they continue to jeer,
Something cool happens. I drop my root beer
Upon my opponent. It spills on his shoe.
For all of a sudden I see something new.
I see in the gutter ten pins that got missed.
The gutter ball hit them! I cannot resist.
I let out a no-holds-barred victory shout.
The devils are leaving. I see them come out
From under the gutter where they had been hiding,
While they the good things in life were deriding.
For even a gutter ball makes you a winner
When you bowl with Jesus, friend of the sinner.
