The ancient Jewish Talmud is full of beautiful wisdom. I recently came across a quote from the sacred writings that struck a chord in my heart. “Every blade of grass has its angel that bends over it and whispers, 'Grow, grow.' This statements simplicity is what makes its profound interpretation so stirring. It is in Paul's letter to the Corinthians that we read, "So neither he who plants is anything nor he who waters, but only God who makes things grow." 1 Corinthians 3: 7 We can all be likened to blades of grass in our spiritual journeys. There are people in our lives who will plant seeds of faith for our future growth. And there are others who will come along and encourage us to allow those seeds to take root and form a solid foundation. But it is when we open our hearts as fertile soil, allow our minds to receive the energy of the Holy Spirit, and drink daily from the rivers of Living Water that we are hearing the angels whisper. It is then that we surrender to God's voice as He speaks as any loving Father would, "Grow, grow."
