The Beginning of the World
Once upon a time, there was a man; he was living on a piece of land. Each morning, he would go out to till the land and get food, for this was his source of livelihood until he went back to his home in heaven.

After a while, he had a family; a few kids and a wife, which to him were a gift from God. He was pleased by how the family was growing, as this meant that he would be able to produce in surplus, a thing that pleased his wife and the other children.

As the kids grew older, they were each assigned their own piece of land. At first, each child sowed and reaped the same amount of maize meal, for this was their staple food. As the years went on, each child grew his own family, thus there was even more surplus. They rejoiced at their hard work which was giving them something to dwell on. Each year, due to the growing families, the maize meal in their granaries grew bigger and bigger in quantities.

Deceptive thought
In a particular year, one of the first children thought: "Since, I have this entire surplus in my backyard; it can last for a while, even a year. I could skip my work this year, and dedicate it to my pleasure; eating and drinking the sweat of my work." And so he did.

As the months in that year went on, he started feeling the bore of sitting around doing nothing; yet it was too late to start any planting as the rains had already left the earth some few weeks back. He felt he needed to do something, something as challenging as his normal field work, and something that would still earn him the same respect as the work he was normally known for.

Rightfully, he thought of a brilliant idea; "Since I have some few months until the next rains, I could help my brothers to prepare and harvest their own crops." In return for the time dedicated to that, he decided to charge just a small amount of the produce, so that for every number of crops that were fit and healthy, he claimed a tiny share; just for a token of thanks. That year, the brothers harvested bountifully.

The sinful nature grows
Towards the end of that year, he looked up into the sky, and realized that it was time to go back to his old duties. However, since he was beginning to like his new found job, he asked for his brothers to meet at his house; he prepared a wonderful end of year party for them with wine and food.

When they had arrived, he announced his agenda: "Brothers and friends, I have realized how much we can achieve if we work together, with each concentrating on what he knows best. I worked for the past few months helping you on technicalities and problems you all faced in your activities, and I can say that today I know many ways we can evade those glitches to produce an even bigger harvest." The brothers thought deeply about these words.

After a while, he spilt the beans and said; "I would now opt to concentrate specifically on this" From that day onwards, the brother was known as the Preparation and Harvest Technician (PHT). Oh it was beautiful. The following year he did this job throughout, and the results were reassuring.

 
The burden posed by sin
The years passed by; his heart was now overwhelmed with ideas on how best they could continuously improve the harvest. They poured into his heart and mind to a point that he could just advise his brothers from the head; without having to go into the ground.

Time took its toll; and the brother died, leaving his wife and children. The other brothers were saddened by the loss of their brothers; the more since he was advising them well in their work. And so they asked his children to concentrate on what their father was, a PHT.

Out of the drive they did so. Each one was now charging meaningfully for the services they rendered, for they did nothing else than that which was the work of their father. They thought of even better ideas to never run out of PHTs in their families. So they designed a curriculum to teach each one of their children the work of a PHT, such that those who opted to still be farmers could know both PHT and on-field farming.

Preaching prosperity in sin
For the years that followed, more specialized curriculums to cater for a particular area of study grew. They started with Hoeing, Tilling, Fertilizers and other broader topics. These were even broken down to smaller topics such as Hoeing in Arid lands & Hoeing in the savannah; Zero Tillage and many such like areas of study.

More and more of their children kept opting to do these topics first before going to do their own field work. For some it took a few months, for others it grew into years. Some really never managed to pull through these curriculums for they were weak in mind.

By the time the second line children had passed, some of the children had started to offer their more apt and learned ones dedicated jobs on particular fields. Skills started to sell like hot cakes, such that those who had proved to know more; cost more. The learned started looking for "jobs", asking for a share of the produce from the owners of the fields; their own fields, they really did not care about. Some families became richer; others became what they called ‘less rich’.

Jobs began to be common on most of those farms, as they had now come to be known. Some aspiring learners who had failed to secure for themselves jobs of virtue started devising ways to keep themselves and their families alive. They started refining the produce of their brothers to become tastier and more suitable to the needs of the ones who had become richer and richer.

Since many of the brothers were no longer doing bare on-field labor, the need for exchange became greater. Some started exchanging small possessions for food and accouterments. The rate of exchange became even greater. More and more exchanges were completed in a short space of time. They realized they needed a small but powerful token of great value, easier to carry and easy to hand over.

They created coins, and then notes, they went on to do cheques and money orders. All this started to separate the richer from the less rich; the latter came to be called poor or less privileged. Money became the centre of attraction, for everyone who had it in abundance could do a lot. To eat, most of them needed money, to clothe, they also needed money; to shelter to drink to marry; everything started to need money.

Present Day
It did not stop here. Those who had more money became to be under immense risk of losing it to those who had it in fewer quantities. One of the jobless brothers proposed a way of making sure that a genuine loss of money did not result in total loss. He proposed a method to insure recovery of such losses of money; for money was power. He called it "insurance". Those who wanted this insurance would pay a monthly fees that they would use as porch for claim in the the of an unexpected loss.

They had it in many ways; insurance, medical aid, pensions and so on. The world became so wicked that none could remember in his heart what the original purpose of life was on the land they were on. All these things were making the brothers forget the simple good that came from doing a good work in the ground, from the heart; and get food.

They were encouraging each other to build empires, build lives and dreams; when in fact the world was merely a place to survive on; never to build on. This is the predicament we find or world in today. A wicked wrong-minded generation; lazy to do anything, quick to want to own something! Forgetting that God is a supply in need, forgetting that we are here only for a while then we go back to our father.

The way back to God
Jesus Christ my helper, we ought not to indulge in these infirmities of this world. We ought to be workers of the work of Christ as he is working for our homes in heaven. In Jesus Christ's name, Amen!
