Happy Resurrection Day

Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never die.”
John 11:25-26 (NLT)

The punishment for sin is death. The punishment is non-negotiable, it was paid. It was paid not by the sinner, but by God himself in the form of man, Jesus. Jesus paid the sin debt for you and me. Before his death on the cross, Jesus went through painful and excruciating torture and humiliation. After that he was put to death. That death on the cross was ours to suffer, but Jesus said, No I will pay that price for them. Jesus did this so that we may be forgiven and that no further sacrifice would be needed. This was a once and for all sacrifice. Many remember this day and have named it Good Friday.

After Jesus death that Friday the Apostles had scattered. Saturday was a quiet day. It was a day of confusion, bewilderment and fear. Jesus, the man many saw as the Messiah, Son of God and King of Kings was dead. The Apostles gathered together and wondered, “now what?” “Was Jesus who he said he was?” “What do we do now?” “Will we also be put to death?”

Then Sunday, Ahh Sunday, the SON was to shine again. Mary had gone to the tomb and found what she thought was the gardener, but was indeed a Renewed and Resurrected Jesus. Mary called him Rabbi; actually she shrieked it, “Rabbi, Rabbi”. Mary ran and got the Apostles and Mary, the mother of Jesus. Jesus was indeed who he said he was. They learned that day not only had there sins been paid for by his death but that there was eternal life through the resurrected Jesus. He came to tell them and to continue to teach for another forty days.

Jesus told the Apostles after the forty days and his ascension into Heaven, to go and make disciples all around the world. Jesus never stopped giving even at his death. Candy, bunnies, and peeps are nice, but nothing in comparison to the Resurrection of Jesus. Everyday is Resurrection Day. Share freely the message of Jesus, share the Good News and share the road to Heaven, which is Jesus. Happy Resurrection Day.
