For the time came were Jesus anguish was heavy knowing death was near. The season must have been just like what we are experiencing, transitioning from winter to summer. Jerusalem’s weather would have been in the 90’s with cool nights. Jesus might have been walking from Bethany with his brethren from raising Lazarus out of his four days of sleep. Most people call Lazarus dead however Jesus stated he is asleep.

Just as Lazarus sleeps, we of this generation are sleeping. We sleep because of choice. Some choose faith, in the belief that Jesus die for our salvation. Most choose to believe in humanity. They choose to live in fear, lack, and worry. While believers, pray through works of faith shall comfort you through times of fear, lack, and worry.

Consider the story of Mary and Martha, the sisters of Lazarus. As Lazarus lay sick and dying in Bethany Martha sent word to Jesus about this event. She knew her bother would die. As word of Lazarus condition reached Jesus, He simply said, “Lazarus sickness will not end in death. No, it is for the glory of God. I, the son of God, will receive glory from this.” When Jesus arrived near the outskirts of Bethany, Martha approached Him to ask why diid’nt you came earlier, for Lazarus died four days ago. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die will live again; do you believe this, Martha?” Therefore, Jesus raised Lazarus and many people believe Jesus is the Messiah.

Jesus has power to this day over death. As we approach the time to remember the day of Jesus Resurrection. However, so many people look at this time as Easter. We should think of the times where it seems people are down and out. Looking for a way out of their circumstances, just remember whoever believes in Christ has a spiritual life that death cannot conquer. When we realize the power of prayer and the wonderfulness of His offer to us who believe, just as God raised Jesus after His death we have an assurance, that faith in Jesus is the pathway to salvation.
