Love is like the horizon
Seems close at hand
But as we walk towards it
It moves further away from us.

Love is like the moon
We admire its shining light
But forget how high up in the sky it lives
And the harsh reality
That we cannot ever touch the moon from below.

Love is like the sun
The warm and intense rays
Fills our hearts with cheer
But can we ever hold the sun?

Love is like the rainbow
The seven-fold spectrum of color
A delight to the eye
But who can possess the rainbow?

Love is like the rain
We can see it, feel it and dream about it.
But does it pour incessantly
To refresh and cool our senses?

Love is like the twinkling stars
Radiating hope and joy in our lives.
But can we see the stars at all times
Even during the day?

Love eludes.
The more it is sought after
The more it evades
In a hide and seek game
Of emotions and feelings.

Oh! If only we had love
In a perpetual embrace
Of give and take.
