Praying with Purpose

I’m going to switch gears here. God is inspiring me to teach about PRAYER. So please be patient with me as I leave relationships alone for a while and discuss the topic of prayer with a unique revelatory purpose. It’s not your basic bible study type of class on the topic of prayer. This is an enhance style of communication with God for the divine purpose of all around spiritual growth not just for yourself but for the body of Christ as a whole.

Paul’s style of Prayer and Thanksgiving

Paul received so much insight in the area of prayer that I believed and applied as the Holy Spirit revealed it to me. I want to start with the Prayer he mentioned to the church at Ephesus, in which he wrote saying, Do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers:

17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,

18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

19 And what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power

20 Which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,

21 Far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,

23 Which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all (Ephesians 1:16-23 NKJV)

Taking a Closer Look

Paul wrote to these Christians at Ephesus and shared how he interceded in prayer. We read it and say, Wow, what a spiritual Man of God. However, we need to consider the detailed request Paul made to God on behalf of the believers at Ephesus.

1. Paul Thanked God for them…
2. He said, May God grant them spiritual wisdom and revelation to know Jesus
3. That their understanding may be enlighten to God’s calling on their lives
4. That they may know God’s power (Mentions 2 levels of it)
5. And Jesus’ authority over all things visible and invisible
6. Lastly, Jesus’ headship to the church.

Making the Prayer Personal an Intercessory for other believers

We can personify the prayer for ourselves. Here’s an example: Father, in Jesus’ mighty name I thank you for the salvation you granted me through your Son and the revelation you shared with Paul about prayer. I ask that you grant me spiritual wisdom and divine revelation of who Jesus is. I desire to Know Him as Lord, Savior, Healer, Baptizer of the Holy Spirit, as my Lawyer, Friend, Master…. Illuminate my spiritual eyes to know what is You’re divine calling on my life whether it’s a Pastor, Teacher, Evangelist, Prophet or modern day Apostle, Deacon, Administrator, Worship Leader or Door-keeper. Allow me to tap into Your power and understand how it works. I thank You for Your authority over everything visible and invisible, and I’m glad that You are the Head of the Body. Hallelujah.

To use this prayer as intercessory prayer just add the name of the church you will be interceding for, Father, in Jesus’ mighty name I ask that You grant the First Baptist, the Full Gospel, Harvest Fields churches spiritual wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of who You are. That they may know You as Savior, Healer, Baptizer of the Holy Spirit, as a Lawyer, Friend and Master. Illuminate their spiritual eyes so they may know what is the Hope of Your divine calling on their lives individually and collectively as a church. Grant them revelation of Your divine power. And I give You praise and glory for increasing their faith, hope and love. And thank You for being their Head and Ruler. Hallelujah.

Detailed Information

I purposely gave you an idea of how to personify this prayer and use it as an intercessory prayer. I applied it and I was personally blessed with spiritual growth and insight to God’s call on my life. I also learned and moved under God’s power like Paul. Also, I prayed for others and churches who lacked spiritual wisdom and revelation and understanding of God’s call and power. And God moved those people into a new level of anointing and power.

Practice What You Learn

Every time I came across some unique revelation and applied it God honored His Word and saw it through. So I shared it on handouts and it worked for those who applied it. Now God has me sharing this info online. I believe if applied sincerely you will encounter a blessing. Don’t allow your ego, pride and hatred to stop you from praying for a specific church because they don’t believe in the supernatural like you do. Or that their doctrine is misguided. Why? Because I prayed for those people that didn’t believe in miracles, signs and wonders…or the baptism of the Holy Spirit and guess what, God turned their hearts around to know Him and the truth of His power and moved them into fresh revelation of who He is. So Pray. Prayer works.
