Mama raised us children
In the image of our Lord
She taught us how to walk and talk
With Him in one accord

She would always read the bible
Before we went to bed
She told us we'd sleep better
Just knowing what Jesus said

She took us to church on sunday
And prayed with us at night
She taught us to love our neighbor
And always treat him right

Late at night by candle light
I could hear my mama pray
She asked the Lord to guide our path
And help us find our way

Mama went to be with Jesus
When I was twenty-three
And today I teach my children
The things my mama taught me
