A Crisis Man
By Rev. Dean Beaty 3/8/11
“Father, make of me a crisis man. Bring those I contact to a decision.
Let me not be a mile post on a single road; make me a fork, that men
must turn one way or another on facing Christ in me” (Jim Elliot - 1927-1956)

Make of me a crisis man, a fork where men must choose.
That they may know the Christ I know thereby their soul not loose.
Not just a milepost on some road or one that tells the speed.
But a warning up ahead of the danger they must heed.

Make of me a crisis man, a fork along life’s way.
That how I live may cause them pause to hear the truths You say.
That there’s a choice men must make and with wisdom choose for Thee.
That they receive the love of God and live eternally.

Make of me a crisis man, to turn men’s hearts to Thee.
That they may know the price you paid; your blood to set them free.
This fork they face may be the last with no more chance to turn.
For if they do not choose Thy way, forever they will burn.

Make of me a crisis man, no matter what the cost.
For men are dying in their sins and forever they’ll be lost.
May the men that I meet there not ever be the same.
May this fork I serve for Thee bring glory to Thy name.

In 1955, Jim Elliot and others, began an attempted to get to know the
mysterious Auca tribe of Equador. The five men, Jim Elliot, Ed McCully,
Nate Saint, Roger Youderin and Peter Fleming, were killed by the natives.
To many people it would seem that Jim Elliot's dream had ended in failure.
But they had done what was expected of them and it was now time for God
to continue with His plan. Some time later Elisabeth Elliot (Jim’s wife) and
Rachel Saint (Nate's sister) lived among the tribe. They established a church and many of the Aucas became Christians. Elisabeth returned home to America but Rachel stayed with the Aucas for many years.
The deaths of these men, has become a world-wide testimony of faith in Christ
and dedication to the work of God, which is much, much bigger than the con-
version of a single jungle tribe to Christianity. (www.christianheros.com)
