If you had any doubt that the supernatural exist, then all you have to do is look around you and you see the grisly evidence everywhere. The greatest invention of the devil, someone wisely asserted, is war and as I write that demon is having a jolly good time with the events going on in the Middle East and Africa. Conflicts that can lead to civil war are raging in Libya, in Somalia, in Ivory Coast among others and Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq are counting their dead every day. But war is not confined to armed conflict where bodies are ripped apart and blood spilt; it is also raging in the realm of concepts and ideas and nowhere more so that between science and religion.

When we think about science our thinking presents a dichotomy. Before the days of the so-called “enlightenment” the period in the eighteenth century, when Europe became liberal democracies and there was a wholesale revolt against traditional customs, morals, and religion, science was regarded as a subset to religion and few of its practitioners were rabidly atheist.

A search through the history of outstanding scientists before the “enlightenment” would show that nearly all were Christians and those who were not were respectful of those who were. They understood and accepted that science dealt with the material, natural world, but was incapable of addressing, never mind resolving, spiritual matters. All of these Christian scientists found God and science compatible because they mostly practiced true science. Today the pendulum has shifted where scientists and those wannabe-great-scientists approach science wearing ideological blinkers and the scientific establishment forces scientists to conform to their ideological paradigm or else be branded unorthodox and be prevented from research funding and all that flows from that.

This mindset-cum-scientific-dogma forces scientist to disregard anything that affirms God and encourages them to exaggerate anything that seems to contradict the Bible or underpin their dogma even when the evidence is at best tenuous and in most instances downright fraudulent. Praise be, not all scientists have this attitude and this is to their everlasting credit.

You only have to do a rudimentary search for the “missing link” to see that they were hundreds and in some cases thousands of “missing link” found and discarded and yet scientists are so convinced of this “missing link” that vast fortunes are spent every year in trying to find it and scientist dream of becoming famous for finding it and earning fame and fortune.

Why is this bogus science being pedaled with such reckless abandon? Because Darwin’s contemporaries poured scorn on his theory of biological evolution producing new species since there was no evidence, just conjecture and Darwin himself admitted that his theory is baseless without these transformational fossils. Hence the headlong rush and waste of funds to engage in such dubious activity and the satanic urge to keep presenting the world with a string of bogus scientific findings to keep the subject alive in the public’s mind.

The “missing link” is analogous to the “Loch Ness Monster” in that when certain persons want to generate publicity for that area of Scotland there is always a reported sighting of this dreadful monster as witnessed by several people. The fact that the latest “Loch Ness Monster” charade turns out to be a hoax does not prevent the media from splashing it all over the world and wait with baited breath for the next charade to repeat the cycle.

So too this latest “missing link” in the form of a fossil named Ida. No doubt it has generated great publicity and wealth for its sponsors with book deals and free TV exposure, but like all the “missing link” previously it has done nothing to substantiate the claim of transformational species. Bear this in mind always and for very good reason you will be standing on firm ground.

If in order to demonstrate the veracity of an object I start off with a guess and then build upon it a series of conjectures and then top it off with a far-fetched hypothesis and I have the gall to ask you to accept the conclusion as fact then you know that I am peddling dogmas not science. Let us examine a couple of examples to establish what I mean by pseudo-science. We now know about DNA and the first one we will look at is the "Piltdown man" even although DNA was not discovered at the time.

Here is what Wikipedia said about "Piltdown man" under the heading Piltdown Man. " In 1912, the Piltdown man was believed to be the “missing link” between apes and humans by the majority of the scientific community." Wikipedia continued like this, "The "Piltdown Man" was the fossilised remains of a previously unknown early human, consisting of fragments of a skull and jawbone collected in 1912 from a gravel pit at Piltdown, East Sussex, England … The Latin name Eoanthropus dawsoni ("Dawson's dawn-man", after the collector Charles Dawson) was given to the specimen…The Piltdown hoax is perhaps the most famous paleontological hoax ever. It has been prominent for two reasons: the attention paid to the issue of human evolution, and the length of time (more than 40 years) that elapsed from its discovery to its full exposure as a forgery." What is frightening about this is what many people know still happens today. We all know that human nature has not changed as witnessed by those who fabricated evidence to go to war in Iraq and the many scams perpetrated in the financial industry.

Here in the same article is how Wikipedia stated the reasons the hoax lasted forty long years. "The Piltdown man hoax had succeeded so well because, at the time of its discovery, the scientific establishment had believed that the large modern brain had preceded the modern omnivorous diet, and the forgery had provided exactly that evidence. It has also been thought that nationalism and cultural prejudice also played a role in the less-than-critical acceptance of the fossil as genuine by some British scientists. It satisfied European expectations that the earliest humans would be found in Eurasia, and the British, it has been claimed, also wanted a first Briton to set against fossil hominids found elsewhere in Europe, including France and Germany." The second example is further back in history and is known as Java man "missing link" founded by Eugene Dubois. As always the scientific community was abuzz with excitement about this latest "missing link" and proclaimed that it would prove once and for all that man came from the apes. Wikipedia on their website for Java Man described it like this, "Java Man (Homo erectus erectus) is the name given to fossils discovered in 1891 at Trinil - Ngawi Regency on the banks of the Solo River in East Java, Indonesia, one of the first known specimens of Homo erectus. Its discoverer, Eugène Dubois, gave it the scientific name Pithecanthropus erectus, a name derived from Greek and Latin roots meaning upright ape-man."

If "Java Man" was just another fossil, over the centuries, many fossils have been found and catalogued, then this latest find would be taken in context, but the scientific community went ballistic and the newspapers, educational establishments and the high and mighty outdid each other to endorse this "link between humans and the ape". The secular world, having thrown off all values, principles and standards heretofore related to religion now endorsed anything and everything that compounded that religious rejection.

Here is how another website described the fundamentalist fervor at the time. "Java man was trumpeted around the world as indisputable proof of human evolution. Textbooks and magazines were filled with fanciful reconstructing of ‘Java man’, who had been given the impressive-sounding scientific name of Pithecanthropus erectus (‘erect ape-man’). Naturally, the bones did not show whether their owner (or owners) had much body hair or not. Yet drawings of "Java man" all showed the required amount of hair, the usual club in the hand, and so on. Although no face bones had been found, suitably ‘half-ape, half-man’ features were reconstructed in artists’ drawings.

Remember what I said earlier on about if I start off with a guess and then build upon it a series of conjecture and then top it off with a far-fetched hypothesis, etc, in reality a mish-mash burgher of puerile gibberish, or as the computer geek would say - garbage in, garbage out, and here you see it in all its murky implications. "Java man" was not a skeleton that was intact or even half intact; it consisted of a skullcap, a few teeth and a femur and these pieces were not even found together, for one piece was found fifteen feet from the others. This is what scientist do when they are dogma driven, atheistic and still in a state of spiritual denial with their minds warped and shut to the truth; they falsify and reconstruct everything to suit their theories and try to hoodwink the world that the results are products of true science. And the mainstream media is only too glad to jump on this bandwagon, ad nauseam, to enrich themselves. This is what I mean by bogus science and the Bible calls it "…science, falsely so called." (1 Timothy 6:20)

Let me introduce you to a more contemporary case in point. The evolutionary biologist Stephen Dawkins had a book called The Selfish Gene published years ago and in 1979 Philosopher Mary Midgley, in her essay Gene Juggling completely demolished his argument when she said, "Genes cannot be selfish or unselfish, any more than atoms can be jealous, elephants abstract or biscuits teleological." She went on to show that although Dawkins responded by saying that the description was merely a metaphor it was that personification that underpinned his whole concept and without it he is bankrupt. In this case, Dawkins was caught out, found to have based his whole concept on the performance of genes that can do no such thing as he surmised (Mary Midgley referred to this as arguing from speculation about the emotional nature of genes) and yet he would squirm and wiggle and waffle to save face and still keep on with his strong and unsubstantiated beliefs ignoring all facts to the contrary.

Bogus science and all its peddlers and apologists will forever be in conflict with God and will continue indefinitely to be man's nemesis. This is true for all bogus science, not just for the couple examples I've referred to, but right across the board. A lot of bogus science is produced on demand and history has shown that scientists are all too frequently willing to sell their souls to the devil for filthy lucre. There is, alas, no scientific claim so preposterous that a scientist cannot be found somewhere to vouch for it and bring along a number of his colleagues as verifiers.

Depending on who is paying you are bombarded with scientific oxymoron; beef is good/beef is bad, butter is bad/good, margarine is bad/good, and there is a long list of these contradictions and each side in the conflict will produce scientific proof for their paymaster.

On the other hand, we have true science, real science, the systematic study of the real world, the world that God created and these studies have produced systems, products and procedures helpful to mankind. True science has given us airplanes, electricity, heart transplants, the computer, artificial intelligence, genetic engineering and a host of vital everyday goods and services. True science takes what God has given, try to understand it, subject it to all kinds of experiments and tests and see what secrets it can reveal and marshal them for the betterment of mankind. This is absolutely compatible with God's will for mankind and Jesus affirmed this when he said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." (John 10:10)

Abundant living for mankind; enough food to eat, proper clothes to wear, crops being productive and free from blight and worms, a clean and sustainable environment and all such things are what God wants for us and true science, as a servant discipline, seeks to engage and bring to realization. When scientists apply themselves to the study of, say, Alzheimer's disease, they are doing exactly what Jesus did in his earthly ministry - heal diseases; he through miracles, faith and the science of the spirit rather than medicine or a technical procedure.

The Bible is not a perfect book in that it does not cover every subject on earth, it is merely a perfect book for salvation. Nevertheless nothing in it contradicts science now or will in the future; where there is a contradiction, it is merely that scientific knowledge has not caught up as yet with the verities of scripture. This is as it should be, for man's knowledge of nature is pitiful, but we must remember that science has been around for only a few years, a pinprick on the geological time scale, and like all disciplines, needs time to develop and mature.
