An inexplicable love

Thinking about one of my recent blogs, it is quite amazing to realize that the God of the universe, the Creator, can love you and me just as if we were the only objects of His love in the whole universe.
We are living in an age where folk have a tendency to think only of themselves and so often the concept of genuine love for others is not understood or even decried or ridiculed.
If one thinks about it, to really understand love in a wholesome and pure way, one needs to get to know the One who is Love. God is love. “But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love”(1 John 4:8) “For God loved the world (you and me) so much that He gave His one and only Son (the Lord Jesus Christ), so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16)
In fact, Jesus Himself said: “There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends” (John 15:13). He was looking beyond his immediate audience. He had you and me in mind as well.
Sadly, the lack of love and caring for one another so evident in societies across the globe these days can be linked to the fact that the majority of people in this world have never experienced the love of God in their lives. The only way one can experience the love of God in one's life is by getting to know God personally. The only way one can get to know God personally is by coming to God through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, who died in our place to take our sin. Sin is what separates us from God. Jesus came to take away our sin. And of course, to experience that love and forgiveness, one does need to come to the point where one admits one is a sinner and asks God for forgiveness.
Some folk tend to think of “sin” as being “old fashioned” and a lot of twaddle. Sadly, not so … “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard” (Romans 3:23) Take a quick look at the verses that follow it … “yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous (in a right standing with God). He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed His life, shedding His blood. … (God) declares sinners to be right in His sight when they believe in Jesus” (Romans 3:24-25a & 26b).
There is so much more I could say but I think God's Word says it all.
