Poetry
Once was a being known as the Life,
e'er so great as his heart.
He'd so much to give, not once but twice,
being Life with much to impart.
Joy filled his heart, for it bore love,
as deep as it ever could be.
He wanted its contents living thereof,
for his great eyes to see.
“I must realize the love of my heart!”
He planned in so much grandeur.
So he spoke forth light, for he's not dark,
and Life was Light's creator.
He worked in creative exuberance,
like a child in such happy play.
He prepared for her grand entrance,
making her home as from clay.
“If she's to be, she must live in style,
for I would have nothing less.
Being with me, the Life all the while
her needs I will address.”
He brought forth foods in their season,
seeing them all as good.
He had thus judged being the reason,
doing good as he only could.
Then came the time she was to be,
with fervor he spoke his breath.
Life bore Love, with flesh to see,
to live in his goodness' depths.
So he sang forth, calling her out,
for love was all he could breathe.
His voice hailed a lively shout,
revealing his heart with its plea.
Coming to be, like joy from life,
was Love in all her beauty.
She spun and danced, e'er so blithe,
with a spirit just as fruity.
Laughter then filled the glorious space,
from voices. Not one but two.
Life and Love seen each other's face,
the moment seemed very true.
“Love cannot be without her choice
or she cannot be Love.
Free will must be her heart's voice,”
thus Life spoke wisely thereof.
“Love cannot love, except by her will.
Force will not be her fate.
This is the law I must instill.
Forcing Love would make love rape.
“I must point out two ways to be.
My light reveals the dark.
Live with me, dear, or death you'll see,
your choice will be from your heart.”
Then for a time, she kept her place
with him in the cool of the day.
Her purpose found before Life's face,
thus she expressed as she prayed.
But in its time she failed to ignore
the dark along with her voice.
Enticing it was, its blackness in store
she would know with her choice.
She then fled away, Life keeping his place.
She died, still being alive.
She became blind, far from his face,
and so joy refused to thrive.
Life could only grieve, could do no less.
She was the love of his heart.
Yet Life must live, and must bless,
Life must give and impart.
With her free will, he made a plan,
knowing she would soon flee.
“I will return, in the form of a man.
My Love again she will be.
“She was once mine, the fruit of my heart,
as much as her heart could bear.
I'll offer again, to be mine from the dark.
My life I'll give with a dare.
“As she was mine, I was her Life
I was the source of her breath,
I must then give in sacrifice.
As Life I can face death.
“I was her life, her coming to be.
The fact that she is is the the proof.
So I am the law she will soon see,
as law I am the Truth.
“Being the Truth, the Reason for Life,
all else is lies to this day.
I'll show her living through sacrifice.
In this I am the Way.
“I know myself. I am that I am.
I am all that should be.
I'll still be me, becoming a man,
granting the power to see.”
The Love of Life was love no longer.
Alive she no longer lived.
In weakness recalling how she was much stronger,
for darkness had nothing to give.
Much far away, her Love watched her,
continuing to give her his best.
In water and song, food so pure,
he whispered to her of his rest.
He sent messengers with words of grace,
for Life has this as Truth.
He besought her, that he was her place.
her memory of joy was the proof.
In the fullness of time, he kept his promise,
coming to her as a man.
All he said as Life would flourish.
As stated he is I Am.
Quickly he wooed her, with Grace and Truth,
for that was why she was there.
The light in his eyes a powerful proof.
Then he stated his dare.
“You are far too poor to buy,
where I am too rich to sell.
So what I give comes from on high.
I do not want you in hell.”
Then the dark grabbed him, without a fight.
He showed no hint to resist.
Life grew gray, losing his light.
Darkness had struck with its fist.
Most heinous of words came from her mouth,
being so used to the dark.
She called for Life's death, an angry shout.
Had hope lost its good spark?
Life lied so still, under the dark,
taking each of its blows.
This man soon lost life's good mark.
Death was what he would know.
Yet before gone, he'd barely gasp,
words she almost could see.
He uttered his love, even to last,
“I do this for you and me.”
Darkness then laughed, walking away.
All he surveyed was his own.
This world of Life was under his sway.
Life had been overthrown.
Moved by conviction as well as her shame
she drug his body to bury.
She longed to forget even his name
as well as the hope it once carried.
Days rang on, along with her grief,
and its partner called shame.
Her guilt was her own, she had to keep.
It seemed death was her name.
Sitting in darkness, deep in her sin,
three days gave rise to a voice.
She turned about. Then she saw him.
Life returned with a choice.
“You are far too poor to buy,
where I am too rich to sell.
Take what I give, what comes from on high.
I don't want you in hell.
“Love me as one who has her choice
for I have paid with my Love.
Free will is still your heart's voice,”
thus Life spoke wisely thereof.
“Love cannot love, except by your will.
Force will not be your fate.
This is the law I have instilled.
As Life I've no need for rape.
“Be once again mine, I'll be your Life.
I empower you with my own breath.
I've bought you by sacrifice.
As Life I've destroyed death.”
It seemed her knees were their own,
dropping down to the earth.
Unknown to her, dark overthrown,
all she knew was Life's mirth.
So Love returned, along with her Life,
for she returned to her place.
Owned by her maker, and by sacrifice.
Life and Love, again, enjoy each other's face.
Now you have heard the good story
of Life and his sacrifice.
How Life would die, yet rise to glory,
for she is the Love of Life.
