LOVED
I know God loves me. I know he pays attention to the littlest detail of my life. I know that even the tiniest and most ‘frivolous’ sounding requests he hears. And yet each time he answers some of these prayers, I am amazed. I should know by now that even the hairs on my head he knows, but it still is the most wonderful thing to share with him these little joys. And I think I have made up my mind to enjoy the novelty of it each time. To unwrap these little gifts that make the day so colorful in the midst of a lot of grey and routine, in the midst of waiting on him for the seemingly ‘big gifts’, is precious.
One of these gifts he came with recently. I have been tired lately and I have not been able to wake up early to commune with my Lord. And so I told him that I was determined to meet him before the dawn, and I asked him to rouse me to do this. He did. When he came by, I woke up. I was so amused at the way he woke me up, that I laughed at myself early in the morning. For you see it started with a sudden cough as if someone tickled my throat and when I got out of bed and put on the lights it ceased. I looked at my watch, it was meeting time.
And now I watch by every waking hour, at the street corner, in the bus, at the shop, in class, at work and at home; waiting to see what little treat he has for me. And there is always one or more each day. Whether it is a beautiful sunrise, the chirping of a bird outside my window or the hearty laughter of a little delighted child or a successful meeting I had prayed for or a lovely day I had asked of him, I now realize they are everywhere, just waiting for me to unwrap and enjoy. Some I ask for and many he gives me without my asking. He delights in me.
I am loved.
