Filled with the strength of Jesus Christ we are called to fight against the evil. Life of love and charity, prayers, holy offerings, reading scriptures, adoration, etc. will guide and enable us to fight this war successfully.

Put on the armors of God

St. Paul tells us, “Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” (Eph 6:11). Without wearing war armors how can a warrior fight against the enemy? If we are armed, naturally, the enemy will be afraid of confronting us. We have to prepare our body and mind to put on the armor of God. “Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. With all of these, take shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God” (Eph 6:14-17).

A warrior obeys the laws

The important character of a faithful warrior is his obedience to the laws. In the case of an athlete, no one is crowned without competing according to the rules (2 Tim 2: 5). We should be obedient to the commandments of God and be faithful to His calls. There are, of course, many challenges around us pulling us back from this obedience to God. It is when the laws are meticulously obeyed that one becomes a warrior of Christ and receives the crown of life.

A warrior should be prepared to suffer

As St. Paul said, “Share in suffering like a good soldier of Christ Jesus” (2 Tim 2:3). Only those who are willing to suffer can forge ahead in their fighting. We have to guard all the frontiers and be ready to retaliate, even suffering the weather of inclemency.

A warrior not poking nose in other things

When we become real warriors, we recognize the specific duty in the call and we forge ahead keeping heaven as our ultimate destination. As we run, we should not care about the gains the world gives. We do not worry about the ephemeral beauties that the material world offers. No one serving in the army gets entangled in everyday affairs; the soldier’s aim is to please the enlisting officer (2 Tim 2:4).

Jesus is our strength

We need not worry about anything because Jesus is our strength. If ewe rely on him and surrender to him completely, he will guide us in our war. “You the, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus” (2 Tim 2:1)
