Psalm 119.84

What realm are you in?

"How many are the days of Your servant? When will You execute judgment on those who persecute me?" [Psalm 119.84 NASB]

"My soul languishes… my eyes fail… when will You comfort me?" Are David's words of desperation and long-suffering also your continual desire? Have you sincerely echoed these oft repeated spiritual sentiments at difficult and life-threatening times?

David felt as though he had nearly reached the end. We often find as we go on in the Christian life that feelings of desperation and frustration increase as we seek more and more of Him. Why is this?

It is essential that we come to the end of our natural resources and learn day-by-day to depend wholly on the Spirit.

The male deer in his desperate search for water is single-minded and he will not allow himself to be diverted from his all-consuming desire to be satisfied and fulfilled.

We all need to be focused on God alone and allow Him to re-capture our hearts and wean and prune our affections from every other interest and diversion.

Why is this necessary? As long as we are living and responding in the realm of our mind, will, and emotions we will be unable to respond properly to God's acts of judgement and justice.

David asked God about the possible length of his existence, whereas God was concerned with the ministry and effectiveness of his inner man.

Very often the object of God's attention is our spiritual well being and our overriding concern is what is taking place in the natural world.
