THE CALL
Chapter 1
The clock shown 2:00AM Ann rolled over in bed and managed to open her eyes. She was no stranger to this feeling she was having again this night. She knew her enemy was in this room, her room. Ann had gotten use to these visitations ,but she never looked forward to them. It seemed like lately they were happening way to offten. One thing Ann had learned early on when she was only 13 years old, show no fear! They can tell when you're afraid, it's like they can smell fear, like a wild animal waiting to attack. In those early days, Ann had to keep reminding herself, "Greater is He who is in me than he that is in the world." Ann was now older and wiser, she was almost 16 years old. "Wow, the things I've seen,"she had said many times to her parents.
Now, here Ann sat, almost three years later, three years after that first night. That night in late December that changed everything. It was the night that started this whole thing. never whould she have guessed her life would have turned out like this. Never would she have thought she would have recived "The Call." But, whats a girl to do, it's not like every girl gets this calling. Being a Seer was not what she had dreamed of for her life. Ann was no stranger to the Spiritual realm, her Mother and Grandfather both were Seers. They also saw into the Spiritual realm in a way most mortals couldn't. Her Grandfather had told her once, "to recieve such a call is a privillage." Ann wasn't so sure about that yet, she was still working on accepting this Calling. It was a hard one to swallow, a Pastor, a Missionary, even a childrens Sunday School teacher. But a Seer, how much stranger could a teenage girl be. Who in their right mind would want to date a Seer. Ann tried to block all these thoughts from her mind. She understood that only the Lord knew her future. She wanted so much to be ok with that. She had talked with the Lord about these things many times. Ann knew He understood her, He understood her better that she understood herself. So she had to have faith, faith that He had her best interest at heart. Ann knew she could trust Him, maybe the Lord was the only one she could trust. Ann tried to focus back on the task at hand.
Ann worked to raise her tired body up into a sitting position on the edge of her bed. As she did she got a wiff of it, the smell. The smell these creatures carried with them was hiddious. Ann likend it to the smell of burnt flesh and chared hair. The smell was enough to make a person vomit, most of the time Ann was able to, "keep it all down", as her Grandfather would say. But, there had been a couple of times when she just couldn't handle the rench and became ill. Ann hoped tonight wouldn't been one of those nights. She reached for her Bible on the nightstand next to her bed, that's where she always kept it close and handy for times like this. Ann knew her Bible was her life line. With out it, with out God she was as good as dead.
Ann began to pray, as a gust of cold air came from the corner of her room, she looked over and there it was, she saw it plainly. She sat on the edge of the bed, staring straight at it. She hated that this spiritual being had crept right into her room. They knew no bounderes, they have no goodness in them, all they understand is evil and all they wanted to do was to destory her. The hatered they have for humans, is only compared to the hatered they have for thier own Creatior. God created all things, in Heaven, on the earth and under it. But, God is good, God is light. Demons hate God as they hate us. "why?", Ann had asked her Grandfather one day, "why do they hate us so much?" "Because my child, we are made in the likness of God. If they hate God why would they not hate us." Ann remembered that day as plain as if it was yesterday. That was the day her Grandfather had been killed. That had been the day when she knew nothing would ever be the same again, and she had been right. Look at her Mother, her mother was, is, at one time was a amazing Seer. Now as Ann thought about her mother, she felt sad and even more angery at the devil.
Ann prayed in the Spirit, in her Heavenly language. Then she prayed in her language, english. The demons couldn't understand her heavenly language. But, english they could. She stopped for a moment, starring unchanged at the creature. She knew her athourty, she knew who she was, who she was in JESUS. Oh, how Ann loved that name, JESUS.
"You have no right to be here", she said to the demon," you have no authority over me! I command you to leave this house right now in JESUS name!" Of course it had to go because at the name of JESUS every thing bows, mortal or spiritual. Gone, out the window it went, just like that, it was gone. Ann knew not every battle was won so easy. She had to wonder why it left as fast as it did. She most likely knew the reason already. It was just here to torment her, and to gain any information it could. Ann knew the devil had a plan, it seemed like he was up to something. Ann just didn't know all the details yet, but they would come, in God's time. She knew God's time was the perfect time so she didn't have to worry about it.
Ann took a deep breath and went back to praying. How she loved spending time with the Lord in prayer. He always seemed to meet her with such love and acceptance. Ann savored this time spent together. It was what made all the warfare worth it, when she was in His presence it was all better. Like a little child climbing up in her fathers lap after a bad dream, and having her father simpley make it all better. This is what it was like, for at this moment all was better. All was ok in Ann's world and Ann was ok. But, down deep Ann knew this feeling wouldn't
last for ever. She knew there was more that she had to do, her mission was not yet complete. But, that was for anouther day, that was a worry for tomrrow. It was only 3:00 am. She had plenty of time to worry about what she would incounter tomrrow. As for right now, Ann had no other place she would rather be. As the peace engulfed her, she layed her head down on her pillow. The feeling of God's complete peace filled her body. Only God can bring this kind of peace. So for the next few hours she was going to enjoy it. Because, Ann knew that tomrrow would come, just like it did every day and she had to be ready. She knew she had to be ready for what every her enemy would try to throw at her, she knew everyday was a day of life or death. The devil wanted her dead, but the Lord had something to say about that!
