With all the good I've seen in the Lord,
   abundant this food that can't be ignored.
It is infinite, for more than just me.
So can I give it as far as I see?

This hope is fire to purge and warm,
   against sin's ire it comes to harm.
Like the Light resound in Christ,
   hope confounds the dark thrice.

If I believe in this infinite Hope,
   I will see to throwing this rope.
If it's so great, there's much to spare.
This weapon defeats the god of the air.
  
Take this Hope, I have more.
It's like a rope, with more in store.
For faith like gold, a spoon to stir it.
From days of old, born of the Spirit.

I for one believe that encouragement is meant to rekindle a dream if that dream is in line with the Gospel and Person of Christ. If not, the Lord will encourage one's life to be redirected toward His plan, which trumps any earthly dream that is not of Him.

If I believe in the God as portrayed in the Bible then I have Hope. Christ is our living Hope. Since it is of God it is an infinite Hope. If I believe that then I will act accordingly by sharing that Hope with anyone willing to listen.

If I don't believe in this God of Hope then I will probably be condemning.

When a Biblical counselor is giving attention to a sinful pattern in a person's life, they should have been trained to point to the promises of God, especially giving attention to the Hope found in those promises, along with what is the responsibility of the one who needs to repent of said sin.

We who are called to knock someone off their pedestal with a rebuke should also be ready to lift them up with hope.
