Happy New Year


Would that I could write a happy new year poem
I’ve tried for days and days and I’m getting quite alarmed
Where are you Mrs. Poet?
Write,
Did that sea of words
Swallow you up
Did you disappear behind the door
I just know you’re in there somewhere
I just know it
Peek-a-boo
I found you

My Christmas Eve was not a dream
It was all there in the scenes
All those 13 grandchildren and their moms and dads
Wow my little house just shook with joy
All the sisters and brothers and the children
Playing with their brand new toys

Grandpa said the prayer and thanked God for his Son
Never one time did we forget that Jesus is the reason
We shared our food, we shared our dreams
But most of all we shared His love
And all the joy He brings

Now the first day of the year is almost here
Wow, how time does fly
We will gather in our little home
And let out a little sigh
That Jesus came and took our place
Out there on Mt. Calvary he did die

What a way to celebrate
Praise you Jesus and I thank you too
Another year of being free
As we settle in to see
My great big happy family
That My Father gave to me..
