Encouragement
I've been considering 'fear' for some time now. The ins and outs of it all. It's become somewhat consuming at times. I'm not proud of this; but it is what it is, and I must claim it as such. Speaking of 'claiming' it...
I've come to the realization that in order to rid yourself of fear you must claim it as your own. You must acknowledge it, and give it a name. Verbalizing this will allow you to lift the burden of shame that is often associated with this deterrent that is holding you hostage... and after all, that's what fear is... a deterrent. Something to keep you in bondage. Something to keep your focus away from things that should be the priority. (Man, is that lil devil crafty!) You see... when you give voice to your fear, you can then release it. And RELEASING the fear is what often needs to happen in order to step into the 'all of everything' that the LORD has for you!
After hearing a sermon this past Sunday on the subject, I've decided to out mine... once and for all. Put it out there for all to see. And then make a CHOICE to release it to God. To let Him take the burden, and turn it into something to use for His Greater Good. And I have MadFaith that He will do just that!
So here it goes...
Really, it's coming...
Give me just a sec...
Ok...
My fear is... speaking. In front of people. In a teaching manner. Or preaching, if you so prefer. Out loud. So that others can hear me. Did I say, 'Out loud'?
This wouldn't be an issue for me, except that this is the calling on my life. Speaking and writing, that is. Does He not know? Can He not see? Man, He's got a great sense of humor!
I would have never, in a million years, dreamed of doing this. Me... speaking God's Word... encouraging others as the Holy Spirit leads. Who would've thought! Which leads me to another fear...
I will refer to this particular fear as the 'what will people think' fear. HA... It's so silly to even see THAT in writing. This 'fear' is being overcome as I write this. WHO CARES WHAT OTHERS THINK!! Really! Who am I to please? Refer to Galations 1:10 for the answer to this one;)
Not to mention... Shouldn't my 'transformation' (Romans 12:2) be a testament to the Goodness that HE IS? I'm thinking... YES!
Now... with THAT said...
I have, yet, another fear. This is one of inadequacy. Not good enough. Not delicate enough. Not influential enough. Not experienced enough. And so on, and so forth. This particular fear is a tough one to overcome; but the Lord keeps assuring me that HE has equipped me with all things needed to accomplish the goal HE has set before me. HE tells me that my inabilities are made perfect in my FAITH IN HIM. He encourages me with the knowledge that HE will NOT let me fail. HE has assured me that HE will give me the Words to speak. And all I can say is...
YES LORD!
So, to my fear, I say:
BE GONE, IN THE NAME OF JESUS! I've not time to worry with you any longer. The LORD has a job specifically designed for me, and He will wait no more. NOW is the time...
that I will step into the 'all of everything' that HE has for me!
I encourage you to do the same. Out your fear... in the name of Jesus... release to the Lord... and watch that lil devil retreat in fear!
I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. ~Psalm 34:4
