There is a miracle at work in every spring
That makes old hearts glad and young ones sing
Where from every new bud promise bursts
As the warm rain slakes the cold Earth’s thirst

The days grow greener, warmer and long
As morning birds send forth their jubilant song
And like Lazarus miraculously back from the dead
Daffodils and crocus rise from their bed

Wherever you look a miracle reigns
As the cold grip of winter reluctantly wanes
Vacationing birds return once again
To mingle and sing with their heartier kin

The warm breath of God does hasten the thaw
Of each eager root…of each grateful paw
As new cubs and hatchlings have delightfully sniffed
Life is returning…this new day’s a Gift

But what of the Adam’s and Eve’s trapped in their hovels
Grown tired of long nights and weary of shovels
These helpless prisoners of the silent cold
Now race into the sunlit days of gold
