I am in the dark of wrong.
I want the light of right.
I'm tired of this funeral song
   and fighting this lonely fight.

The closest I can get to you
   is in my memories.
If you had been born anew
   my heart would've found release.

Take me away from the past,
   just keep this love in me.
Please take away grief's overcast.
Let my joy be free.

I need this love to get me through
   to fight through heavy sorrow.
Maybe soon the sun shines new.
It might shine tomorrow.

Until then I will wait.
Your presence is in my heart.
One day I'll go and leave my fate,
   where you and I won't part.

Move me away from that past,
   I'll keep my love in me.
I'll leave behind grief's overcast
   to joy when peace is free.
Hope's far ahead from the past
   where my love I'll see.
I'll forget that overcast
   and joy is new in me.

Note: Written for a fellow writer who spent their Christmas grieving over the loss of her unborn child. It was written as I thought she might express her grief. Pray for her as she may not be a believer.
