A Time for Giving Thanks
Bless the Lord O my soul and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord O my soul and forget not all his benefits.
It is a good thing to give thanks until the Lord and to sing praises unto His name. From the rising of the sun until it goes down, the Lord’s name is to be praised. Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord.
Lord, you have been our dwelling place for all the generations. We know you have proclaimed that to everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heavens.
For the thousands of years since God set the world into motion, there has always been summer and winter, springtime and harvest. Each day for those thousands of years, the sun has risen at His command and the sun has set, ablaze with His light.
Kings and kingdoms have grown powerful and fallen. Yet, as the Bible says, the Lord reigns; and He remains the same yesterday, today, and forever.
God sits on the circle of the earth and watches the inhabitants. He has assured us that His eyes travel back and forth throughout the earth in order to be strong on behalf of those who have a trusting heart that is loyal to Him.
As Christians, we know the end of the story. God wins the battle of good and evil and we are told that every knee will bow in heaven and on earth. In the meantime, God’s Word assures us that He is greater than any power in this world.
At all times, we can rest, assured in His peace that passes all human understanding.
God, whose spoken word created the universe and everything in it, is still at work in individual lives throughout the world ~ not by might or by power, but by His Spirit.
At the end of each and every day, we have so much for which we can choose to be thankful.
As we enter this season of Thanksgiving, this month set aside for gratitude, and celebrate a day surrounded by friends and family gathered to feast, share our love, and give thanks for our blessings, let us remember that we serve a risen Savior.
In the midst of any circumstances which we may feel are adverse, we can be more than conquerors through Jesus Christ and there is nothing that can separate us from His love.
O give thanks unto the Lord for He is good because his mercy endures forever, and His truth endures to all generations.
