WHICH LIES DO YOU LIKE – COLOURED OR NAKED ONES?

Lies, strictly forbidden in and by the good books; and an offence punishable in the courts of law and can lead to serious repercussions amongst individuals.

Do you remember the last time you told lies? If your answer is “yes” when you don’t, then you have told a lie and if your answer is “no” when you know you have also told a lie. Despite evidential circumstances of the terrible results of lying, today there are just too many lies that lie on our tongues or our finger tips as we talk and make gestures, write or strike on the keyboards.

Tactically, many people turn their lies into jokes if they are proven to be telling lies. But perhaps lies are quite irresistible or irrepressible and maybe that is why April 1st is designated as “Fools Day”, just to let many people cheat and quench their lies. And if lies were only told on April 1st, then we would have less bedevilled relationships, less hatred, indifference and jealousy and anything, which results from lies.

According to a South African psychologist, Dr Ronel van der Watt says, “People want to observe, explain and predict things and natural science has it that way and it’s because of that that others turn to lies through:

• Behaviouristic view point whereby some models this from significant people like parents, neighbours or friends.
• Psychodynamic- this is used as a defence mechanic to hide underlying hurt because it causes anxiety. This becomes a problem in the development of the conscience, as they do not want to face reality.
• Person Oriented - most people tend not to be honest with themselves or they do not like themselves, so telling lies becomes the only way to gain acceptance.
• Transpersonal - one could have underlying tension in a person cutting between two polarities: the shadow part against the real self.

However on a higher level this is also attached to the roll media i.e. people see and observe and poverty too has a part in it.

Sometimes it is to fulfil the needs, people may tell lies to survive in a certain circumstance e.g. when someone’s life is in danger, immediate need to survive might heavily weigh towards telling lies.”

But as though giving a green light to lies, they say, “You can lie to some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time but you cannot lie to all of the people all of the time.” That is a very serious warning to all incorrigible liars and enemies of the truth, infallible liars and those cleverly pursuing this act of disagreeing with unity at all levels of society.

Knowingly and recklessly exaggerating the truth or doing or telling partial of the truth. Once caught, the repercussions range from being gripped by shame, to being gaoled and, on religious grounds to missing the gate of heaven either by a whisker or a wider margin and consequently losing a place in paradise because sins have no measurements or are not quantified as they are all equal – it is believed.

Surprisingly, the world has graded lies, from a light fib to serious malice and at all costs defended such lies by adding colour and they say it’s a ‘white lie’ or a ‘blue lie’. Some even undress a lie so that it becomes a ‘naked lie’. But whether you want it coloured or not, you want it dressed or naked, a lie is a lie.

Even young children are not spared from the lies – babies and other at a tender age who are promised wonderful things which they most desire such as sweets. This mostly happens when they are crying and insisting to accompany the elders, but elders do not want their company. If elders can use lies to the young ones to escape the harm they think the child can do to their peace, then the possibilities are likely to be a danger that those children will become more cunning when dealing with friends and elders. Those who are unfaithful to the young are also likely to be unfaithful to the elders.

Also, the fact that lies are widely told leaves no doubt that there are some benefits at any point in time. Habitually, liars incline their conscience towards duplicity, thereby strengthening their propensity of plotting lies.

Always people hate to live with guiltiness although they may ignore to retract lies, however, sometimes they are haunted and that proves they have conscience. A dangerous stage comes in when a liar slowly starts believing his or her own lies, this means more people being easily fooled or deceived too. But who benefits from the lies despite the risks which are there?

Nevertheless, sometimes liars consider things from a wider angle before uttering any mendacious statements about someone they know. For example, most of the times people who indulge themselves in extramarital or illegal erotic affairs will maintain secrecy on that affair. Sometimes even the associate might not know the truth. Reasons are simple, either because that is a social problem on either participant or that is a threat to their spiritual faith in the eyes of man, but bearing little in mind that the outcome might be highly unavoidable and once revealed will be for everyone.

Hence, a moment of carelessly displaying such a carefully planned and guarded affair can result in an escalation of suspicion pending free shots of shocking rumours. An infallible rumourmonger, with mastery of lying, is likely to spread the disgrace at the rate of wild fires or is likely to successfully induce suspicion in other people about the mishandled affair.

Generally, before launching an invasion of privacy on someone’s hidden romantic affair, the liar knows for sure that if his or her lies fall flat, the consequences would be appalling. Hence, the liar comes up with the following sophisticated worth formula for a romantic relationship rumour (rrr):

rrr = distance of escort and pace; divided by, (over) frequency of visitation and time

With well-calculated information based on that, one is likely to believe and further strengthen one’s credulity by saying, “There is no smoke without fire.”

Everyone at times encounters inescapably hard times, times that threaten one’s peace and the stand on the truth. The intensity of the threat may be the main factor bringing about lies. Here, the truth disappears with the situation in which one is in, being fully cognizant of the results for fear of the unknown. However, it helps not to forget to remember that adding anything to a story or an account to influence the outcome is a lie.

Altogether, the act of telling lies is not only deceiving to the liar and the listener, but it has all the ingredients for a recipe of evil in it – dishonesty, cunningly mixed with craftiness which finally ends in hypocrisy of the liars themselves.
