Without an Excuse

Matthew 22:12 “And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in
hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.” (KJV)

I wonder what they’ll say then or use for an excuse,
For resisting Christ as Savior or for their vile abuse?
The Bible says they’re silent not one excuse they’ll say.
They’ll stand silent before God on that final judgment day.

Standing there will be the men who nailed Christ to the tree.
Shouting, “crucify Him”, for they would not set Him free.
Those who wove the crown of thorns and pressed it on His head.
Those who mocked the empty tomb when Christ rose from the dead.

Just a few from yester year when Christ was here on earth.
Billions more from then till now who refuse the second birth.
There will be a whole crowd there who went to church each week.
Religious, yes, but lost in sin. No pardon did they seek.

Before one can be born again, as sinners they must come.
Or like the rest on judgment day, their voices will be dumb.
One does not have to reject Christ to be lost in their sin.
Just neglect to call on Him is to not be born again.

One must accept the gift of God by faith in Christ’s shed blood.
Thereby we’re washed from all our sin beneath that cleansing flood.
Satan has a grip on men but Christ can set them loose.
Without Christ you will stand someday and be without excuse.

Romans 1:20 “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world
are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal
power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:” (KJV)
