Oh, Yes!

Somnolently I writhed from my bed
Preparing for one more day.
I put on my clothes and shook my head;
I even took time to pray.

I stole downstairs and peered 'round the door;
A sweet fragrance filled the air.
To my wonder, there knelt on the floor
My child... saying a prayer.

"Thank you, Jesus, for the real good sleep,
For Your blessings pure as gold;
I put my cares in Your hands to keep;
My life I know You'll uphold.

"Jesus, could You please bless Mom and Dad?
I worry about them so.
Daddy needs to find a job real bad,
And Mom’s very sick, I know.

"I love them with my whole heart and soul.
They're the best parents ever;
They've shown me how to live and set goals.
I'll love them both forever.

"If I was big enough to work some,
I could help to pay the bills
And get more help for my ailing Mom,
Good food and some better pills.

"Oh, please, Lord, hear my prayer today.
I’ve tried to be a good boy;
Jesus, if You could just see Your way,
It would bring us so much joy." Amen

Well, after hearing my boy's prayer,
I got all choked up, then cried.
We clung tightly while some tears so rare
Appeared as our spirits sighed.

What can I say, Jesus, after all this?
I know You heard his prayer.
Into our lives, You have brought such bliss
It shines in our hearts so fair.
