I recall a life so dark
   he could not see the light.
His strength flew, like a lark,
   all weakness, with no might.

He was young, just like you,
   and could not see the end.
The days seemed gray, no longer blue.
Hope, far beyond the bend.

He thought it best to end it all,
   so pain would finally cease.
His place here seemed very small.
Maybe he'd find peace.

Then he saw so many tears
   of loved ones with their grief.
They were left with realized fears
   of him in final sleep.

He had to live for the love
   he had almost forgot
      from many souls, gifts from above.
He wasn't living for naught.

He lived for the hope that's yet to be,
   blessing many with himself.
In good time he came to see
   he'd be someone's help.

I once was there, as you are.
But I was me, not you.
I could never know the scar
   that's in you, just as true.

But there's still love in this life,
   it's greater than you or me.
It's the reason for the strife,
   the hope you've yet to see.

Live for the hope that's yet to be,
   and bless us with yourself.
In good time you will see
   that you'll be someone's help.

   a fellow human being.

This note is added for the suicidal teenager this was meant for:
I remember being 19 in College straight out of High School and suicide seemed like a good idea. Then, for some reason, I remembered all the people that would be left hurting if I was no longer around and I wouldn't be able to do anything about their grief.

I just couldn't do that.

I also know what it is like to lose someone that way. I lost my baby sister like that in '96. I wouldn't want to wish that on my worse enemy. I will always miss her, with so much pain from the memory.

Even if only for the sake of life and the future, please live!

You may not know it but we all need you, even if we never meet you.
