Who Is Our Deliverer?

I was thinking that so many won’t even acknowledge that there is a devil, let alone realize that they have been under his influence. People who say there are no spirits or that a Christian cannot have demon makes me think of this scripture. 2Ti 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. I ask people do you ever deal with fear? Usually people say yes. I then say, what do you believe fear is? God says that it is a spirit. God says He didn’t give it to you. So if God didn’t give it, who did? If God doesn’t want us to have it then there must be a way to rid our self from it, right? Otherwise Jesus could not have said that who the Son sets free is free indeed (John 8:36). If we are free indeed how can we walk in fear? Fear is not freedom. Fear is bondage. Fear is negative faith. Fear is the belief and expectation that the bad will happen instead of God’s good. Fear is opposite faith. It takes faith to please God so how can fear please God? Fear kills our love and power and sound mind so how can that please God? It can’t. as it robs us of God’s good.

David in the Psalms said….Ps 34:4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. You see that? God delivered him of ALL his fears as a result of David seeking him. It is obvious then we can get rid of all fears. God is not a respecter of persons. The other thing here is that “God delivered” as the result of him seeking the Lord.

Sometimes we forget that it is God that delivers us, not us. Years ago when the Lord called me, I was given a vision. In the vision I saw a field with many people crying out to God. They kept saying, “come and deliver, come and deliver, there is none to deliver us”. The Holy Spirit then asked me if I would be his delivering hand? I said yes. I was then on the floor as the power of God came upon me and I was lost in the Spirit for some time. I want us to look at something here. God asked me to be His delivering hand. He did not ask me to be a deliverer. The hand is useless without the head. The hand is only empowered as the head gives to it power. God is the deliverer, not us. In conjunction with this, years ago I was focussed on changing something within me. The religious world kept telling me that I couldn’t be a Christian with this habit. I got all focussed on changing it. Finally the Lord talked to me about it. He asked me is I could save myself, to which I had to say no. He then said, if you can’t save yourself, then how can you deliver yourself? If you could deliver yourself then you wouldn’t need me. So stop it. I realized that He alone could deliver me. It was not up to me to deliver myself. I had to have the head, as the hand without the head is dead. I had to allow Jesus to do it. I had to accept me for me and trust that what God said that He would do He would do in His way and time.

So often in the Church we place the burden of being changed on the person needing changed. We expect them to fix them self. If they could fix them self they would not need Jesus. I saw an article or teaching that I really had to examine. I realized that it was true. Though not words I have heard before or titled in this way, it was a true statement. It said that there is a doctrine of self-empowerment. Self-empowerment says that we do it and then God will bless our efforts. It is not about us! The Holy Spirit once told me “what other people do is not your problem, Just bring them into My Presence and I will fix what needs fixing”. It is His job to do, not ours. If we are honest with our self, we will realize we can’t fix our self so how can we fix someone else? In our flesh dwells no good thing. They that are in the flesh cannot please the Lord. No matter how good it looks, if it is coming from our own fleshly efforts, it is not pleasing the Lord. It is only to be by His Spirit. He is the head, not us. We are actually doing people a great disservice when we place the burden of being changed on them. We are asking them to do something that they can’t do. They end up miserable and frustrated. Where does frustration come from? It comes, as the result of the flesh not getting what it wants. No where in the Bible does frustration show up as the fruit of the spirit. It is the fruit of the flesh only. The Holy Ghost isn’t frustrated; it is our flesh. God is all-powerful and can do what He wants, when He wants to do it, and where He wants. He is not limited.

Instead then of us trying to play God and deliver self, we need to just go where the deliverer is. Our focus must be to just get into His presence. We go just because we are know that we serve a loving God that knows our struggles.

107:6 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.
Ps 107:13 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.
Ps 107:19 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.
Ps 107:28 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.

He just wants for us to come to Him with our struggle. He is a God of grace and mercy. He promises to deliver us out of all of our distresses. Our focus must be to only seek Him and His presence. He will deliver in His way and time. Scripture says that we are to “walk in the spirit and we won’t fulfill the lusts of the flesh. If we focus on the flesh it just gets worse. We focus on the Spirit the flesh will die out. The more of Him that we have, the less that our flesh will rule us. It is like a balancing scale The way we change is just draw near to Him and allow Him to rule. Don’t focus on the problem; focus on the one that can solve it.

If we can get our focus correct and just take our eyes off of the problems, and learn to get into His presence as our priority, we will find Him delivering us and giving us many blessings as well as new peace and joy. He alone is our deliverer. Praise God as He alone can get the glory due Him!
