Going Beyond The Word
Man's First State
If God be for us who can be against us. God did it all and it was finished at Calvary. We the people of God have power to loose and bound the enemy. Jesus in us is the hope of Glory, let Him stand up for us. What do we know about God? How much of the Word do we know? What do we do with what we know? Are we ever learning and never coming to the truth? The Word is read and spoken. We however have to go past the Word, for God is beyond that. We have to find Him beyond the pages of the Bible. We find Him through the hearing and believing the Word but to experience Him in all of his glory we must go beyond what is written. Let's make some noie and realize the power of the right noise. Noise is the sound of any kind, loud, confused or senseless shouting or out cry. This is how it happens in Heaven and we think we can make it there and not praise and worship God here in the earth. Man's first state is to praise and give glory to God our Creator.
Revelation 5:11-14, and I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the Elders and the numbers of them was ten thousand times ten thousand of thousands. Saying with a loud voice, worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor and glory and blessing. And every creature which is in Heaven and on earth and under the earth and susch as are in the sea and all that are in them, heard I saying blessing and honor and glory and power be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne and unto the Lamb forever and ever. And the four beast said amen and the four and twenty Elders fell down and worshipped him that live forever and ever. If Heaven have to do this what about man? We have to find out what God has to say concerning us. We must know that the Word says. The Word brings us to God and the Spirit of God keeps us in line with God. We must however go beyond the Word into a spiritual realm that brings man into a relationship with God unknown to any other man. This is personal relationship with God.
Numbers 22:15-18, and Balak sent yet again princes, more and more honorable than they. And they came to Balaam and said to him, thus said to him, thus said Balak the son of Zippor, let nothing I pray thee hinder thee from coming unto me. For I will promote thee unto very great honor and I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me; come therefore I pray thee, curse me this people. And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak, if Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the Word of the Lord my God to do less or more. Who is it that pushed us out in the field? Was it God or was it us in our own might?
From Numbers 22:18 we take our topic going beyond the Word and from Revelation 5:14 we take our subtopic man's fist state.
We were created to the praise of God's glory. We were created to praise God, give him honor and glory. We were to celebrate Jesus. We first praised God and spent time with God before we became flesh. Adam spent time in the presence of God in the eve of everyday in his created state. Adam was spirit before he had flesh applied to him. God called those things that were not as though they were. He created man, male and female first. Adam was righteous and in a righteous state he could come before God. But once disobedient he could not go before God; he hid along with Eve. God had instructed them what to do and not to do. It wasn't hard to keep the relationship pure for there was no flesh. Man was spirit like God. This is the first state of man full of God's goodness. God gives man that same goodness today. Because the goodness is god he gives to righteous men their need and the unrighteous man individually. the righteous though carry the attributes of God that will take them past and beyond the earth. We have to live so God can use us.
The Israelites praised God after they were delivered across the Red Sea. Miriam praised God after they were delivered individually apart from the whole group. Deborah, the Judge in Israel praised God after defeating the Canaanites. Hannah praised God for a son and praised God after he son was born. She also praised God when she took Samuel and presented him to God. She left Samuel with Eli. Eli had sons but they were not prophet material. They did what they wanted to do in the house of God with who and whenever they wanted to.David praised God celebrating his deliverance from Saul. God will bring us out of all dilemas if we trust him and praise him. We have to go beyond the Word. We have to go back to the point we first believed and keep our eyes on God. We have to once again bring the ark of God back into our hearts.
Balak was a Moabite King who brought Balaam from Pethor to curse Israel. How many times do we as Christians act like Balak? Instead of using our God given power to curse sin, we curse each other. Balaam was a soothsayer, a sayer of truth is what his name meant. He was one who claimed to foretell the future by magic. Balak wanted him to speak evil against Israel. He wanted them to be cursed. Speaking evil in the Bible covers several types of speech; all of which seek the harm of another, such as words of untruthfulness, malice, imputing of bad motives, slander, thoughtless talebearing, as well as intentional false witness. This is completely forbidden by God. Balak King of Moab, induced Balaam to curse the Israel by the promise of great rewards. People all over go to the extremes to get what they want even, sin if necessary and don't care who gets hurt in the process. People we are failing God miserably. We take his Word and use it to hurt others. Why would this man want God's chosen people cursed. Why do we today? Balak tried to buy Balaam's gift for his own purpose. How much more do we sell God's gifts for that he has entrusted in our care? Balaam name means perhaps, devouring. Every attempt to execute Balaks orders was met with extreme difficulty; and Balaam controlled by God's Spirit for some miraculous reason blessed instead of cursing the Israelites.
The Israelites being delivered from the Canaanites and Amorites went into Moab. Balak seeing what had been done to the Amorites was sore afraid of the Israelites because they were many. Balak sent messengers to Balaam to call him and give him a message. He told him that there come a people in the land that come out from Egypt that covers the face of the earth and they abide over against me; come now therefore. I pray thee cause these people for they are too mighty for me. Balak wanted Balaam to curse the people so he could prevail over them that they may prevail in smitting them and that I may drive them out of the land. He was afraid to go up against the people of God because he knew God blessed them and he could not curse them. The Elders of Moab and the Elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam and delivered him the message from Balak. Balaam told them to lodge with him this night and I will bring you word again; as the Lord shall speak unto us.
God came to Balaam and asked him what men are these with you? Balak wanted the Israelites cursed so he could overtake them. How many times do we as the people of God curse what God has blessed with our mouths? God told Balaam that he was not to go up with the Eldres Balak sent. And God said unto Balaam, that he was not to curse the people for they are blessed. So Balaam sent the princes of Balak back with an answer; the Lord refuse to give me leave to go with you. And the princes rose up and delivered the message to Balak. Did Balak give up? The Devil our adversary never give up trying to win the souls of men., neither did Balak.
Numbers 22:15, and Balak sent yet again princes, more honorable than they. They went and said to Balaam what thus said Balak. Let nothing I pray thee, hinder thee from coming unto me; for I will promote thee unto very great honor, and I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me; come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people. A new tactic, different results is what Balak wanted. How many people are promoted in churches because of who they are, what name they carry or how much they have to offer the church. A true Christians born again, fire baptised and really have a relationship with God is held down for fear of someone giving a little praise about them. Balaam knew who he was but he allowed the enemy to penetrate his mind. How many times are we the people of God been persauded against what God has said.
God told Balaam the first time what to do and he should have held on to that. Jesus in Matthew 4:4 had to stand against Satan with the Word, but if we have no word in us we can't answer the enemy of our soul. We can't just speak the Word, some action is required after the Word has been spoken. Balaam answered the new set of men, if Barak give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the Word of the Lord my God to do less or more. Balaam went before the Lord concerning the matter again. Number 22:20, and God came unto Balaam at night and said unto him, if the men come to call thee rise up and go with them, but yet the Word which I shall say unto thee, that shall thou do. How many of us pray and wait on God to answer? How many go out of our way to please God? Balaam rose up in the morning and saddled his ass and went with the princes of Moab. God had already told him what to do the first time, why did he go back to God as one that had no hope. But God was in control. God was angry but the angel of the Lord stood in the way for an adversary against him. He and two of his servants with him. The ass saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way and his sword drawned in his hand. And the ass turned aside out of the way, and went in the field and Balaam smote the ass to turn her into the way. But the angel of the Lord stood in the path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side and a wall on that side. We have walls in our lives that keep us form God. The ass thrust herself into the wall and crushed Balaam foot against the wall and he smote her again. The Angel moved in the direction God has sent him a little further standing in a narrow place where there was no way to turn either to the right or to the left. The ass saw the angel again and she fell down under Balaam. Balaam's anger was kindled and he smote the ass with teh staff. The Lord opened the mouth of th eass and said what have I done unto thee that thou has smitten me these three times? And Balaam said to the ass because thou has mocked me and if I had a sword I would kill you. They conversated and the Lord opened Balaam's eyes and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way with his sword drawn in his hand and he fell in obesiance to God. The angel of the Lord said to the Balaam wherefore has thou smitten thine ass these three times? behold I went out to withstand thee, because thy way is perverse before me perverse means he turned away from what is right, or good, to what is corrupt, improper, and incorrect, going contrary.
Why didn't Balaam see the Angel in the way when the ass saw it from the beginning of the journey? Once his eyes was opened he could see God right. We like to go beyond the Word. Man in his first state would have seen the angel at the onset of the journey. The ass saw the angel and turned from the angel three times. When Balaam knew the truth, he repented to the angel saying I have sinned, for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against me; now therefore if it displease thee, I will get me back again. And the angel told him to go with the men, but only the Word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shall speak. Before God speaks to us, we have to see him and be willing to do what God tells us. We can't buck around like the ass did his master.
When Balak heard that Balaam came he went out to meet Balaam. Balak said to Balaam, did I not earnestly call thee? Wherefore camest thou not unto me? Am I not able indeed to promote thee to honor? Balaam answered, lo I am come unto thee; have I now any power at all to say anything? The Word that God put in my mouth to speak, that shall I speak. Balaam did not go beyond the Word God gave him. His work done was from heaven. Balaam said how can I curse what God has blessed. How shall I drfy whom the Lord has not defied. We must go beyond the Word and hear what God says, do what He says and only that for positive results. Balaam realized that whereever he went God was there. Balak said to Balaam after that he had blessed the Israelites rather than curse them; what has thou done unto me? I took thee to curse mine enemies and behold thou hast blessed them altogether. Balaam told Balak must I not take heed to speak that which the Lord has put in my mouth. And Balak said to Balaam come, I pray thee with me unto another place, from whence thou mayest see them; thous shll see but the utmost part of them and shall not see them all, and curse me them from thence.
Balak still wanted them cursed. He still wanted Balaam to speak against the Israelites but he told Balak rise up and hear, hearken unto me. He spoke what God said to Balak; God is not a man that he should lie, neither the son of man that he should repent; hath he said and shall he not do? or hath he spolen and shall he not make it good? Behold I have received commandment to bless and he hath blessed and I cannot reverse it.
People we have to be careful in our speech and how we listen to God. God speaks to us through his Word.
