Faith
No matter how much she covered it up, the hole was there--it was still there! The dirt just piled on, slowly falling into the cracked earth creating a canyon with the unseen eye. Creating a distance that could only be felt amongst two long lost lovers. She couldn't take the pain, she tried so hard to bury him away into the back of her mind. This pain had created a hole to large to bear on her own. She just wanted to lay down and die, for that was much easier than digging through this love.
The other day she had tried to follow herself through this relationship. To try and understand why he loved her so much after all she had done, after all those hurtful things she had uttered underneath her breath at the town meetings. She tried to bury the thought of him, but he seemed to find a way back into her heart. All those long lonely nights in her living room sipping on coffee and soaking in the darkness that had unexpectedly found its way into the now colorless room. She had been slipping into a desperate sadness since he had left, or maybe was it that she had left?
While she was sitting sipping on her black coffee that would seem to scold the hand of any man she begin to sift into a vision of some kind, a nightmare of some sort. She just happened to be wearing her favorite ribbon and her favorite violet blue dress, it was a family trip to church, it was Easter Sunday. There was something odd about this vision though, for in this vision, in the background was the man she has been trying to evade for most of her life. Yet, in this vision he wasn't scary. He was inviting and beckoning her to run to him in open exclamation. And for some reason, she just couldn't explain it, but she had to run to him. As if a river needs to run to the ocean, because that is where it came from. As soon as she leaped into his arms, she felt release. She discovered something there inside of her that wasn't there before. The hole she had been trying to bury was filled. She felt she was right where she belonged.
Tears fell down her face and for the first time in her life, the coffee was cold. She had finally let this man in her life. She found what she was looking for, what she really had wanted all along.
Only if she knew it sooner would things have been different between them...
THEME: Some people, Christians I might add, as well as those who are not saved focus so much on their sin that they forget that Christ died ONCE and FOR ALL. Every sin we commit and will commit and have committed has been forgiven. But somehow we seem to push him away, but Jesus is the pursuant lover who doesn't know when to stop, and he will resurrect himself into our lives on a daily basis until we give in to the ever-gracious love that he wants to bestow upon us. We can try to bury it with many things (relationships, drugs, the hermit life, work, life, worry, and fear, which all of these are products of). I pray that we all will believe and accept him, I pray that we will allow him to do great things and not bury him away into some comfortable part of our heart...
