Precious Promises

II Peter 1:4 “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises:
that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the
corruption that is in the world through lust.” (KJV)

Do you know the promises given us within God’s Word?
Do you count on them for peace as the truth from God you’ve heard?
Or do you leave them dormant and forgotten, silent there?
No comfort, peace or blessings as you meet life’s daily care.

Someone has taken the time to count up the total score.
Three thousand was his finding and probably there are more.
We all know two or three but this number is so small.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could know them all?

Read your bible daily and God’s promises will grow.
Changes in your attitude will for sure begin to show.
Just dig into your bible where God’s promises are found.
Like finding golden treasure buried just beneath the ground.

In chapter one of James is one precious to my heart. (vs. 5)*
To understand God’s word this is surely where to start.
If there were hidden treasure buried somewhere in your yard.
You would search until you found it never thinking it was hard.

Search for precious promises with an equal zeal and zest.
Exceeding wealth you’ll find there if you’ll make this search your quest.
God will give to you His peace, also comfort to your heart.
Hide His promises within and don’t ever let them part.

* James 1:5 “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to
all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” (KJV)
