Consider Him...a mighty and powerful God! An Earth-shaking God! In Deuteronomy 4:24, God reveals Himself to Moses and calls Himself a Consuming Fire. In Psalms 97:5, the hills melt like wax at His Presence. In Habbakuk 3:6, He shakes nations and eternal mountains are scattered because of Him. In Revelations 20:11, the heavens and earth flee from before Him. Who or what can compare to Him?

Though He is great and awesome, God is also passionately in love with His people. He is our heavenly Father and longs for our fellowship. We have been issued a divine invitation to come close to this great God and assured a place before Him by our relationship with Jesus. How could we lightly come before such a holy, powerful God? It is an awesome privilege to approach Him, one we dare not neglect or treat with carelessness.

He has promised not only to hear us when we pray, but also to draw near to us when we draw near to Him. But let us not think that we can come away from such an encounter unchanged. If God melts hills and shakes mountains just by being present, we can surely expect Him to change the landscape of our lives. Anyone or anything we place before Him as important and vital is blown away like leaves before the wind by His Divine Presence . Just one glimpse of Him puts all of life in stark perspective. Nothing else matters but our God. The small troubles and cares of life seem so trivial when we get a revelation of Him. We stand in awe of His Person. We stand amazed at His Presence.

Come, Lord, come. If You are a Consuming Fire, burn here...We won't hold anything back from Your flames. If You see anything in our lives that prevents You from dwelling here, we give you our permission to blow it away with Your Presence or burn it up with Your glory....even if it costs us something and even if it is painful. We are hungry for You. Revive us again.
