Just driving home from work can get the mind to wandering and imagining and exploring!

Think of the wind.

Mother Nature is playing her music and commanding her subjects to obey her by dancing as she blows her tunes. If you listen carefully, you can hear her sweet songs as they echo through the trees.

In the winter months, the trees are barren. When the wind is just right it looks to me as if they are reaching out to touch anything that is full of life. A bird, a deer, a human. They just want to know that while they are sleeping, that life is still going on.

When Mother Nature sees the trees are becoming a bit restless in their nakedness of winter, she sings them songs. Some powerful and broad like a march, others peaceful and soothing like a lullaby.

During the lullabies the trees know that she cares for them and their needs. They know that come spring they will be awakened (born again) and they will be barren no longer.

During the marches they know that she is angry. She wants her soldiers to be strong and battle weary. The weak trees will not bend in the wind – they break limbs, branches, and sometimes they even become uprooted. It’s saddest for the uprooted trees. They no longer can cling to life – she has cut them off from it all. All the “if only’s” can’t help them now. It gives pause to the other trees, as they know that they could have suffered the same fate – yet they had enough faith to carry them through. Sure some of them are battered and missing limbs, but they survived to battle another day. They have time to heal their wounds.
