HOW I MET THE MASTER
Come and take a journey with me down a path that began with depression and destruction and ended with spiritual bliss and an encounter with multiple miracles.
I would like to take you on a fascinating journey today as you read this article. Five years ago I was at deaths door. I was attending college and under a tremendous amount of stress. Eating food was a very painful ordeal as I had Acid Reflux Disease. As a result of that everything I ate made me tremendously ill and I was not able to keep the food down for any length of time. Now, you may say isn’t there medication for that? Yes, there is, however taking the medication made me sick! Peace was something that I craved, but I had never experienced it in my entire life. Little did I know that as I journeyed down this path I was about to experience the most wonderful peace that I have ever experienced.
Adding to the inability to eat, I was in horrific body pain. I had a condition that the medical world called Fibromyalgia. This is a disease where the entire body is racked with pain, and no amount of medication can cure it. Of course, because I was in pain all of the time, I became severely depressed. To add insult to injury, in 1999 I lost my Dad and thirty hours later my seventeen month old granddaughter died. As a result of these devastating events, I acquired something the psychological world calls PTSD, (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). In addition to that I had panic attacks associated with anxiety. Lastly, I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis which is a debilitating disease of the joints and the bones.
Backing up a bit to 1984, I became a born again Christian but slipped away from God and the faith only six months after giving Jesus Christ my life. I drank alcoholically most of my life and although I didn’t drink for the six months after I gave my life to Christ, I started to drink again and my life got progressively worse. During this time my life also became a mess of intertwined tragedies and horror stories that I will not go into. However I will say that I did get into two car accidents which should have killed me but because of God’s grace and mercy I am alive and well and telling you my story today.
Eight years passed and God delivered me from alcoholism. However ten years into my sobriety you would never have known it by the way I was acting. You see I became a member of AA and learned all of these so called life tools to live by. Such as share at a meeting, don’t isolate, one day at a time and so on. But somehow, someway those things fell by the wayside and I got to the point where I couldn’t deal with life. I would have temper tantrums, throw and kick things around, road rage and the like. At that particular time I had a neighbor that lived below me who owned a dog that barked night and day. And to add insult to injury she claimed she was deaf and would have her stereo going day and night. Needless to say, I did not get much sleep, so I was stressed out over that. My life was going down the tubes very quickly and I felt like I was in a downward spiral and was unable to come up.
But God! The best thing that ever happened to me was when one of my many doctors told me she had done everything she could for me and she could not help me anymore. You see, none of the medications they prescribed were working for me. ( I found out later on that was because Fibromyalgia is a disease that is spiritual in nature). In the meantime I met up with a friend of mine who also had the same condition. She said to me “You need to come to this church with me. God healed my Fibromyalgia; it’s all gone and I don’t have any pain in my body. I thought she must be crazy, God healed her?
However I kept turning her down every time she asked me to go. I was finishing up with my last semester of college and was extremely busy. However I ran into her again and she asked me to go with her so I relented. After all what did I have to lose? So we drove to the church went in and sat down. Immediately after the worship, the pastor called the people who needed prayer up front. At this point in time I was all stooped over and was in so much pain I could not stand up straight. However I went up to the front and stood there for what seemed to be an eternity.
I had my eyes closed and I began to cry. Suddenly I felt someone in front of me and the Pastor asked me what she could do for me. I told her all about my health problems and the pain I was in and she very calmly said I never heard of Fibromyalgia
and all of the other diseases you are speaking of but are you willing to forgive everyone who has done you harm ? At that point I was ready to do anything and I replied yes I forgive them all. Then she led me through the Salvation Prayer where I repented and rededicated my life to God. (Remember, I had been living apart from the Lord). The very next thing is that she led me through the Salvation Prayer where I asked Jesus Christ to come into my heart to be my Lord and Savior. It was right at that point that I fell backward, (someone caught me) and I was placed on the floor and was covered up. But as I was falling back, I felt the fire of God coursing through my body. At one point I tried to get off the floor, but one of the women told me to stay there, that God was healing me. After a half hour or so I was able to stand up. It was at that point the pastor looked at me and said My Lord look at her, she looks six years younger! My face was radiant because the glory of the Lord was all over it.
Since that day in church, my life has never been the same. I live totally for Jesus Christ and the wonder of His Love. There is no other healer in the world but Him; that is why He is called Jehovah Rappha, (Our Healer). Has my life been easy since that day? No, I have had many trials that have come up for me but God has always been there for me. And I will say that prior to rededicating my life to Him I was scared of dying because I didn’t know where I was going after I left this earth. And now I have absolutely no fear regarding this because if I died tonight, I would be escorted to heaven either by Jesus Christ or His Holy Angels. You see, I know but I know but I know I will be with Him eternally. John3:16
So my question to you readers is this: When it’s all said and done and your life is all over do you know where you are going to spend eternity? If you don’t I implore you to ask Jesus Christ to come and live inside of you and make Him your personal Lord and Savior. My friends, you will never , never be the same; this I promise!
