In part one we saw that everyone has ‘faith’ in something. We all have a core set of beliefs from which we form our worldviews. We trust that our beliefs are correct and we trust in the worldview that we have formed from those beliefs. We live our lives and base our decisions on the worldview we have developed.

Since what we believe, or what we have faith in, has such an important and powerful influence in our lives, should we not consider it extremely important what we believe in, what we have faith in?

Is it wise to trust mostly in our self and our limited understanding of the universe? Is it wise for us to have faith in some mysterious ‘force’ called ‘chance’ or ‘luck’? Is it wise to think that I can do wrong things just as long as I do MORE right things? Is it wise for us to just believe what someone else believes without reasoning out the implications of those beliefs?

Doesn’t it make more sense to trust in He who created you and I, He who created physical rules and forces, and He who created the Standard by which all things are supposed to function? Should we trust Someone who knows everything or should we trust in our narrow understanding of the ‘big picture’?

For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding. (Proverbs 2:6 NASB)

It makes more sense to have faith in God than to have faith in self, luck, or tradition. God loves us enough to give us His Word in order to show us how to have a relationship with Him. He loves us enough to send His Son to die for us, to pay for our sins, which makes that relationship with God possible.

God is reaching out to each one of us today.

Everyone has faith in something.

Shouldn’t God be the one in whom we place our faith?
