I HATE YOU!!!

I don’t know you (or maybe I do) but I HATE YOU because… you are Hispanic…you are Black…you are White…you are Asian…you are Gay/Lesbian…you are Jew…you are Arab…you are an American…you are a Christian…you are Muslim…you are a woman…you are pro-life…you are pro-choice…you are Democrat… you are Republican… and it goes on and on and on.

Have you noticed the hate? There is so much hate going around – blatantly. Sad! I really thought we had come a long way however it’s apparent that we are going the wrong way.

Unfortunately, people hate people because of their race, culture, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, political affiliation, etc., etc.. With eloquence, the haters justify their hate, as if it were for a just cause. And some folks, if not cautious, will get caught-up in the moment and join the hate agenda. Beware - don’t fall in the trap! And then there are those haters who deceitfully hate in God’s name but please be clear “If anyone says, “I love God”, yet hates his brother, he is a liar.” 1 John 4:20.

Hate is acted out in so many ways or a combination of ways -- disrespect, ridicule, harassment, taunting, belittling, bullying, insults, intimidation, and can escalate to beatings, rapes, murders, terrorism, genocide and wars. Victims experience psychological pain that could end in suicide or severe bodily injury that could end in death. The severity of hate crimes are immeasurable, impacting individual victims, families, communities and countries. Hate is the root of all evil.

We all have our own beliefs, preferences and viewpoints; that’s okay. However, what is not okay is when we hate our brother or sister because he or she has a different belief, view, etc. We should/must treat each other with utmost respect and tolerance regardless of our differences. Is that so hard to do? And Christians, we must treat each other with brotherly and sisterly love. “Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” John 13:35

STOP the hate!

Powerful reminder. Loving our brothers (especially our sinning ones) is difficult, but it is what God wants us to do.
