Oh,wicked tongue do you know,
the sad destruction that you sew?
It's amazing how unkind you are,
firmly oozing harm near and far.
Words like arrows always strike,
one's heart and mind both alike.
If they're sweet they do not slice,
yet if ugly their gash is so precise.
The scar will remain forever more,
repentance can't completely restore,
the mark remains upon the heart,
even though memories shall depart.
What can be done to reduce,
my tongue's malevolent abuse?
Father I need your direction,
cradle me in your loving protection.
Remind me Lord of who I am,
in Christ Your most sacred lamb.
Christ in me conveys Your glory,
Christ in me is salvation's story.
