The feelings of a mother following the birth of her child are beyond description. She is experiencing a myriad of emotions from joy to deep uncertainty. How can she rise to the heights of responsibility and lead this trusting blanketed bundle down the right path? God assigns moms a task far beyond their natural capabilities. They must rely on Him for daily strength and discernment.
Pride lies not in the mother’s own part in labor and delivery, but in the child placed at her side. The baby is so beautiful and worthy of every complimentary remark given by visitors. She is sure the wee one must be perfect in every way.
Proud Mary pondered in her heart. “But Mary was treasuring up all these things in her heart and meditating on them. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had seen and heard, just as they had been told (Luke 2:19-20 HCS).”
