Watch Out You Don’t Miss Him
Common Salvation

Matthew 24:42-44, watch therefore; for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the Goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready; for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Our life and walk in Christ Jesus require some very important things of us as Christians. We are to keep our tanks full, refueling our spirit man daily that we enter not into temptation. Jesus talks here in the scripture about us being watchful. We have become to relaxed in our relationship with God. Because we are relaxed our salvation has become so common. Our lifestyles is of an ordinary quality that no longer have special rank or position. We are common in our communities, on our jobs, in the marketplace and at church. Sinners use to have respect for us. We tried to hide what we did that was sin. Our reverential awe for God is slowly fading away. God has become a byword in the world. What have we done?

We are a people that have the true and living God. Our religious beliefs has become a profession rather than a religion these days. Any and everybody wants to start a church. They try to build up a fellowship and they want it just like somebody else’s. Can God give two people the same vision? Yes he can. But we are not to covet someone else work and if we do then we are saying we do not trust God. When we don’t do things God’s way we limit God and our faith in him has begun to decline. Saints we are allowing God’s work to come second to our own selfish motivations. We are deteriorating slowly; decreasing in membership and losing the vigor we once had to be strengthen by God. We have become to common in the world. We have missed God so many times, watch out you don’t miss him again. We are too common in our salvation.

Saints we have put our guard down and left our hearts unattended. We must guard our hearts so that we be the example that God wants us to be according to His Word. God wants us to practice excelling in mind, body, soul, and spirit. He wants us to be over and above in our lifestyle, relationship, and in keeping with the standard He set forth in His Word. That means we have to consistently on a regular basis seek for the more knowledge of Jesus Christ. We are to be different from the norm and follow the steps of Christ he left for our example. We are to fit into the realm of God’s Word and His Spirit. We are to get rid of anything that is excess in our lives. Our desire for or want of strength, want of self control and incontinence. What ever is overbearing that pours out of us when we are tested we need to get rid of it. Jesus paid a price that we no longer have to live in sin; it only calls for us to submit to the order and will of God. We need to exercise some restraints. We can walk away from the filth and fungus in our lives. In the natural, any bacteria fungus sticks to your body and in the spiritual it sticks on your soul and spirit. Flattery causes one to reach in and grab hold of sin because behind the flattery comes a reaction. Instead of us choosing to be fitly joined together with God and the body of Christ we frame up with the devil and he have flees.

We are to take caution in guarding our hearts. Jesus said we are to watch over and defend what we believe in and stand for. If we properly watch we will keep our hearts under subjection to God. God will supervise, provide, keep, and protect us from the hands of the enemy. If our prayer life is up to par with God, meaning our spirit man is in subjection to God‘s Spirit He will keep watch for us while we sleep. Just like God the Spirit of God don’t need a nap, but man being flesh does. The Spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak. Jesus realized that when he went off to pray and come back and his disciples was asleep that the flesh is weak. Because they were more flesh as the Spirit had not been given yet they were not skilled in the things of God. They had no comprehensive knowledge of Him, His Work or His Word and it would take some time for them to process the work they were being prepared for. Jesus realized that it would take the Holy Ghost the finished work of redemption to come and help them to overcome the flesh. Jesus had an outstanding intellect needed to direct and plan the intricate operation. The work would be very complicated and perplexing, full of detail and obscure. Jesus wasn’t understood by man as he would liked them to so He knew that the disciples would not be understood either when they rendered the Word. Not only not being understood but the Word would not be easily or clearly expressed. Jesus hid nothing of what His Father told Him to give to the people that they may be healed and delivered by the Word. Jesus taught them that they should be undistinguished that they dim any glory that people would try putting on them. We have to guard our hearts that we not allow man to lift us up in pride.

Deuteronomy 5:29, O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them and with their children forever. We are to love the Lord God with all our heart, soul, and might. We cannot fool God with our insecure heart because God looks on the inside while man look at the outside. David was a man after God’s heart, he was broken and of a contrite spirit. He had to ask God for forgiveness, he wanted a clean heart and a renewed right spirit in him. After his heart was fixed he praised God in song. We have to guard our heart and keep it in all diligence because all the issues of life pours out of the heart. If our heart is not pure we won’t see God because we have hardened our hearts after which we were tempted.

Watch out we don’t miss God while we play around with our salvation. We are not to be one that entertains this common salvation that is present in the land today. We have become so common with our salvation our guards have come down and left our hearts unattended. Why is this? A watchman is always prepared for war. We have many conflicts in our lives and we fail to realize that the conflict is really to tear down the Spirit man. It’s spiritual warfare for the soul of man between God and Satan. Jesus warns us that we are to put him first because he has fought the battle for us already and won. Jesus is the watchman that left us to guard our posts, guard our hearts that we become not like the common. folks that have no idea or desire to know him. Since they don’t know Him they seek to do as they please. Many of us have stop watching. We are more interested in what we are going to eat next week. Next week is not promised to us. We can be here today and gone today; tomorrow is not promised.

Jesus is saying watch out you don’t miss Him when He returns. Saints what are we going ro do? How are we going to respond to the call of the Lord? Watchful, thankful and be more ready to hear than smother His Spirit out with vain words. God wants first place in the hearts of men. We have to run every fleshly force out that tries to exalt itself against us. To do this we need the Holy Ghost and the oil of the Spirit running in our lives. The oil is the Word. We are not to desire a common salvation but the salvation given us by Jesus Christ.
