The dawn of the festive season ignites an bright flame inside all of us. Kids, teenagers and adults look forward to the time in a year where almost everyone is just about happy. Where i live, there are lots of ways people get it on around Christmas!

In the years gone by, it was a matter of doing what we normally wouldn't do throughout the year! Many things we do or have daily today, were just for christmas of course. The likes of inexhaustable loaves of bread, tea with lots of sufficient sugar, rice and chicken. Many of us got the idea that christmas is all about happiness. However, we were also taught that it is a time to share!

On the glorious day, we would wake up early in the morning. Everyone obviously looking forward to wearing the new set of clothes almost everyone would have. A Quick shower took even less time, to give everyone a chance. And oh, i forgot, relatives and friends would come to sleep over on the eve. I remember a certain one at our home, when we had grandma gracing the occasion. She brought along country beef. There's no where in this world you can get this type of beef other than my hometown!

Breakfast was filled with joy. Around 9 o'clock AM, we would assemble in one hut. A heavy assortment of backed goodies like bread, buscuits, scones and fat cooks would grace the meal. Of course tea would come with less restrictions on sugar levels and milk. Oh i love those days!

By noon, everyone would have expended a greater share of their energy! However, the day would not have started as yet! This was the beginning. This time was perfect for music, we called it DHINDIDHI. Be it dance, slow or praise music, everyone would be dancing. Sweets, pop corn and drinks would be in abundance. I guess this was the time where the weaker in stomach would need to watch their activity!

As always, dusk brings a sweet serene environment. We would assemble once more in the round hut. Women this side and men that side. I remember my mom together with my aunts, taking to serve us all with the best meal of the year! Rice and chicken with lots of assorted spice. If we were lucky, tomato sauce would also make the line up.

Today, i have a few friends around. Family is my wife and kids. If my siblings manage to come with their own families, thats that! We have the fastest means of communication and transport, yet we are distances apart. We fail to be together like this just this once. Looking back, we didn't have much, but those were surely happy days!
