And
He took the
blind man
by the hand,
and led him
out of the
village;
and when He
had spit
on his eyes
and laid His
hands on him,
He asked him,
'Do you see
anything?'

(It is a very sunny,
and warm day on the
shores of Galilee. Jesus
is walking about:
speaking gently to people,
and putting His
Hands on them. His
disciples are following:
going to and fro.

Peter comes over; he;
is looking over his back,
and shouting,
a bit irritably,
to someone
in the crowd:
'STAY right THERE!
Don't MOVE! I'll be
right BACK!'

Then, Peter mutters a
curse, and shakes his
head. He comes up
behind his Lord,
and whispers in His ear.)

"She is BACK,
my Lord!"

[SMILE!]
"Who,
Peter?"

(Peter cannot keep
the irritation out of
his voice.)
"That......that strange
WOMAN!
(He points.)
"See? She is right
over THERE: mingling
with the CROWD! Can't
You SEE her: she is
wearing such strange
CLOTHES! The PEOPLE
are all moving AWAY
from her...as if she
is quite INSANE!"

[NODDING.]
[SMILING.]
"Ah.
I see."

"What should I DO?
I can't seem to get
RID of her!"

[CHUCKLING.]
"What does she
want,
Peter?"

(Peter sighs. He
scratches his head.)
"Well......she isn't
BLIND! But, she keeps
pointing to her FACE,
and saying,
'Can He HEAL ME,
TOO?'"

[NODDING.]
"Ah.
Yes.
I see."

(Peter whispers
again, to his Lord.)
"What are those
STRANGE things.....
on her FACE?"

[SMILE PATIENTLY
AT HIS DISCIPLE.]
"They help her
to see,
Peter."

(Peter shakes
his head, and frowns.)
"She keeps grabbing
onto my sleeve.....
and saying...
'HEY, PETER! I
KNOW THAT JESUS
HEALED ONE 'A MY
ANCESTORS OF
NEAR-SIGHTEDNESS!
I WANT HIM TO HEAL
MINE, TOO!"

[BURST OUT LAUGHING!]

(Peter frowns,
again. He sees the
strange lady waving
and signaling to him,
from the crowd. He
looks away, and groans.)
"I KNOW she is from
a very strange PLACE...
from....very far AWAY.
How I understand her SPEECH..
I have no IDEA!"

[CALM NOD.]
"Hm, hm."

(Peter looks back
at the strange woman.
He waves his hand
back and forth: in a
halting motion. He
shouts, impatiently.)
"No! NO! Stay BACK!
I will be right THERE!"
(Peter groans, to himself.
He turns back to Jesus.)
"But......LORD?
I don't UNDERSTAND?
How does she know
my NAME?"

[JESUS GAZES
INTENTLY AT
HIS DISCIPLE.
HE SMILES,
WITH A TWINKLE
IN HIS EYE.]
"How does she
know......
Mine?"

he looked up
and said,
'I see men;
but
they look like
trees,
walking.'
[Mark 8:24]
