Children’s Day is an occasion to think about the condition of the children all over the world and our responsibility in bringing them up. It is not only the duty of the parents but also a part of the societies. It is an occasion to enlighten our minds in the Christian perspective.

Child the gift of God

Children are God-given wealth. “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a real blessing.” (Psalm 127: 3) Through the children God fulfills His creation work and manifests His existence in humanity. The children are the invaluable gifts that God gives for human love. They fill our lives with happiness and they, in turn, grow up and support us in our old age.

Invitation of God to children

God invites the children to come to Him. They are supposed to approach Him freely without any restriction. The parents are asked to bring their children to Him. It is their most important duty to teach them about God and make them grow in His love. Jesus said, “Let the children come to me and don’t stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” (Mk.10: 14) It is the duty of the parents and society to bring these children closer to God. It is through the parents’ role model, love and teaching that a child tastes the love of God on this earth.

The criterion for entering heaven

Further Jesus Christ says, “Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it.”(Mk. 10:15) The criterion to enter into the Kingdom of God is to be like children. It is to be open-hearted, loving believing and confident. They make friendly with anybody easily. They do not develop any superstition against any one. They are too innocent to judge any one. We are also expected to be like them.

Let us celebrate the children

Children are a wholesome package of innocence, enthusiasm, energy, affection and a myriad of emotions. They are our joy. They are our path towards immortality. They are the reservoir of our genes and extension of our soul. They stay, while we go on. Happiness that flows from them spills out and spreads through the whole world, changing and healing.

Hi Thresia, that is a unique name....I liked this, we are are also to become as little children...ever dependant on our Heavenly Father. Many do not see the significance of children to Jesus, His Heart, or for us to strip ourselves bare of the world and become as pure in mind and body as little children. We can learn so much from children and we should indeed celebrate them...EVERY DAY! Blessings, Elizabeth.
